Can't go wrong with a 1200 or 1250. Especially for taller riders.

I'm tempted myself, the 1200 and 1250s can be found pretty cheaply with all the fruit added, they make great touring rigs.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Like what Dave said! I put 50K on my GS around the States - sold it and regretted it - they have great legs for touring and nimble in the corners. The luggage?.... you can't beat it!
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

Hooli

Yeah, but it means people see you on a GS.

I agree, although I much prefer the 12 to the 1250.

Wait! We are talking about Suzuki Bandits aren't we?

Some really cheap 1200/1250 for sale. Full Yoshi, PC, lots of bits included. Almost tempted, another Suzuki. All my life us Mates met up, cruised every motorbike shop, always dodged Harley&BMW shops. No interest.

my very first bike was a Bandit 250GSX-F I think they were called. 10000rpm redline, heaps of fun to ride

Years back when I used to work, a bloke there used to bring his mrs bike to work on occasion, it was a GSX250 too.  4 cyl 250cc.  Had an insane red line, prob same as yours Eric, had to rev the shit out of it to get anywhere.  Bike looked good though, can't remember what sort of speeds he'd get or what it'd cruise at comfortably.

Col, don't get a GSX250.   The BMW GS - GSA 1200's & 1250's sure get a good rap, plus you're already in the BMW club anyway . . .    K1600 for the big tours you do wouldn't be out of place either.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

I some times tour with a bloke on a K1600, those things are the fastest lorry I've seen on two wheels. It's bloody daft how quickly a good rider can go along tight curvy roads & not appear to be trying.

4th ride of 2026.

Another 243K / 151 mile loop to my new to me, but now becoming regular cafe.

Warm but not hot, cloudy but no rain.
I'm happy with that sort of weather.

3 years on the H2 SX SE I wasn't bothered if I rode it or not and was watching what else was for sale.

3 years on the Gen-3 I still love it ! Anything happens to it I'd buy another one the same tomorrow.

It's been left in A-1-1 mode recently. I rarely bother changing it. Full power, but with all the tech and toys turned on. Most of it is reactive not proactive so it makes little difference if you aren't being stupid.

Full power, traction control, anti wheelie, quick shifter in its sporty setting, 2 step launch, engine braking on full etc etc. None of which are intrusive or noticeable.

I'm guessing that, in theory, you could turn off at a T-junction in 2nd, give it full throttle, just tap the quick shifter into 3rd and then 4th, pre-shift and shift lights flashing, no clutch, no backing off, no wheelies or wheelspin, just real hard smooth acceleration. I'd imagine that would be quite childish, unnecessary, require next to no skill, but would have some entertainment value to a stupid old bloke. Who knows?,

Yes, in theory that would be quite entertaining.  Have you tested above theory? Just asking for a friend...

Quickshifter and similar electronics made behaviour like that entertaining on the road on my 1290 Adventure. On dirt you could light the rear up and keep it spinning while feeding it gears until the scenery started to blur and the realisation that you'd have no chance of stopping set in

I've considered a quickshifter for the 1400 just for a giggle.

Lurch......

My new breakfast run,
Crows Nest, Blackbutt, Moore, Linville, Moore, Harlin, Gregors Creek Rd, Somerset Dam, Esk, Esk-Hampton Rd, Perserverance Dam, Pechey.

The cafe at Linville General Store isn't quite as good as the two at Esk, but I prefer doing that loop to ride and the owners at the Linville Store are cool. It takes in 7 or 8 seperate sections of twisty roads and bends.

240-250K's for me and it suits big road bikes like the Busa, B-King or 1400.

Speaking of quickshifters or rather just shifters,....staying at the same motel as us in Whanganui recently where some blokes on Hayabusa's. One fella had a prosthetic left lower leg , he had a Kliktronic electric shifter with the buttons on the bars.
He said it was great, just connects to the gear lever so anyone could ride it. But he couldn't ride without it.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎
