Well that time of year again, MOT yesterday passed with flying colours. She doesn't look bad for a 23 year old bike, and running silky smooth

I rode mine to work in murky mist, must be autumn again.

Thought I'd finish the story of A-tard's Sporty for you all.

The part finally arrived from HD yesterday, so I could put it back together. I was busy yesterday evening so got stuck in when I got home today. Could have done it in an hour but I can't leave crappy things alone & have to sort them, so took a bit longer to do stuff like punch new holes in the straps for the side bag it's got. It now fits tight, doesn't flap about & need cable ties to stop it sliding around.

Once it was together I connected to the fuelpak (via bluetooth it's so easy) and cleared the dozen or so fault codes I'd produced switching it on with various things not connected. Then I took it for a test run, everything I'd done worked great & it rode as well or better than before. It annoyed me though as it's always gone really flat at half revs, Id' told her before it's got the wrong map but she'd never agreed to let me have a fiddle with it. Well I couldn't resist, tried a few different maps while out & found one it likes. It pulls past 90mph slightly better than it used to pull past 70mph now, on a private test track obviously.... It's much more fun to ride now as it revs out properly for a tractor.

I've let her know it's done, but I think she's on earlies this week so already asleep. I'll see what she thinks when she rides it home & notices the extra power.

Currently my garage looks like this..

Not done but am i correct i can lower rear brake pedal height adjusting pushrod? New boots and feel like it needs dropping 10-20 mm.Soles just catch on it.

Yeah I'm sure you can. Can't recall exactly how as it's been ages since I did one, should be easy enough though. Don't forget to check the rear brake light switch afterwards as that'll probably need adjusting to suit the new pedal position too.

Thank You Gentlemen, just what i thought but wanted to check. Today thru so many little corners, just not perfect as trailing brake pedal just catching on boot sole. No big deal but i love perfect.

Today was quite a few hours re connecting  with 14. Now no work i have time. Quite amazed how we felt good together again. These bikes need riding, both me and bike. Last 10 ks home felt like old times.

It's amazing how little adjustments are needed for a new set of boots or gloves. Went through the same recently. Only takes a few mm to get it perfect again.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

That reminds me Eric. I need to buy another pair of gloves before they stop selling the ones I wear, that'll keep me sorted for a few more years.

Adjusted rear lever down, about a 3 minute job. Brake light needed no adjustment. Got the spray Lanolin out, dosed every moving part, much nicer ride with brake pedal just under foot👍

Today I bought some "chazzo" levers, new clamps and seals for the exhaust, and a speedohealer as its off a bit. :8:

Rode the BMW to and from work yesterday, then took the 1400 in today.  Weather I'd improving so went thr long way home both times. Last night was late after a club meeting, was glad for the fairing as ambient was 9.5degC. Really glad I fitted Stedi Copperhead led high beam globes, lit up the back country roads home very well.

Tonight on the 1400 took the same way home but a lot earlier in daylight.  One of the back roads I take is straight, 100kmh zone and clear paddock views both sides. I opened her up from 2nd gear, this bike still amazes me how strong it pulls all the way to 8000rpm, swear i could feel my arms getting longer, just a great big wave of torque that shoves you along the road. No misses, hesitation or hiccups, just that awesome roar from the Akrapovic 4into1 and the tarmac rushing past faster and faster.

The BMW is quicker I'm sure, but it's a different experience, more refined I guess, not as raw and visceral as the 1400.

Got home with a big smile on my face, then
gave the 1400 a quick cleanup when I got home, a satisfying cooling tick-tick-ting coming off the engine as she sat in the garage, ready for the next run.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I'm also familiar with that feeling Eric, I don't do it often but when I do, it just feels stupidly fast.     Raw & visceral, yeah, I like that analogy.  :onya:
