Nice car Tony but would prefer a house for that money. I did get to see/ hear an Audi R8 in full flight yesterday. Fairly impressive.

One of my favourite Car adverts...

If I had the money I really would own something stupid like a Lambo, Porsche or R8.
I like ridiculous cars.

If I had the money I'd have an Aston sat on the drive.

I love Astons
Probably a DBS would be my choice.
My bosses Brother in law has a Vantage S.
It smells like a shoe shop inside.
For some reason leather upholstery never seems to smell of leather in German cars. (In a past life I have had 7 Mercs)..
English cars smell gorgeous. That's part of the point of opting for leather in my opinion.

My Volvo has black leather seats, I suppose I should stop using Kiwi Polish on them.

Use some Dubbin Irish, that's good for leather

Some years ago I hired an Aston Martin DB7 V12 Volante for the day as a birthday present for my wife - yes it was her treat! Beautiful thing to drive. We discovered that you're treated completely differently when you have an expensive car, pulled into a pub car park in East Yorkshire put the hood up and when we went inside the landlady greeted us and escorted us to a table. Couldn't do enough for us. We noticed that this didn't happen when other people came in. I'm sure it wouldn't have happened to us had we arrived in our own car - Volvo S40 at the time.
Was a good day  :smile2:

I like the styling of the S40!
A customer of ours has the D5 Diesel  Version and that's what I would have.

Yes I do like cars as well as bikes.

Went to a house auction.

Little timber cottage that hasn't been modernised in decades.
3 bed, 1 bath, 1 garage, needs gutting and starting again.
Liveable but in a poor state.

Went for $720,000 / £385,000.

EDIT: Just spoke to the new owner, he thinks he's going to knock it down and build a 2 storey brick home with a pool in its place.

Jesus I thought property was expensive over here!

I can buy a farm for less money a couple of hours drive West of here.
Think of it like compareing London prices to a Welsh Village or North of England prices.       A nice area, near a capital city, near two very good schools costs a premium here.  The new owner moved to Brisbane from Sydney as he couldn't buy anything down there!

That the reason why I have kept real estate in Oz the prices are stupid and so is rent, the other reason I am a landlord. I suppose its good for those that have it, I just feel sorry for my kids.

My plan is to sell in the city and buy somewhere more rural like Crows Nest and be mortgage free with cash in the bank. I can still commute to the city of Toowoomba in 30 minutes but get to pay a fraction of city prices to buy a house on acreage.

The house opposite the one I saw sold today went for $920,000 (£492,000) four years ago. Similar house, lifted, built under and modernised.

On property prices in Oz compared to UK.
The house I am living in presently in UK has increased in value by approx 5 times that of what it cost 30 years ago.
The house I was living in Oz has increased in value by approx 10 times that of what it cost 30 years ago.
My wages in UK would be at least 4 times plus what I was earning 30 years ago.
My wages in Oz are definately not anywhere near 10 times what I was earning 30 years ago.
