Hooli, Tune ECU is free on your laptop.  You don't get the latest updates but the bike is too old to need anything new so it's not a problem.

Wrong unfortunately. The windows version only works up to 2012 bikes, mine's a 2014. According to the Triumph forums anyway, I will try a copy & see what happens for the hell of it.

I cant think how easy it would be to navigate using my phone.  Well the Triumph forum is incorrect as I used it on my 64 (2014) 1050 Tiger sport to change the tune when I fitted an aftermarket can and it worked fine.  Have you got the correct interface lead?

I have, I got the lead off ebay. I've not tried it yet, but I will at some point.

@Hooli it is a Triumph mate............ give it time  :stir: :stir: :stir: :rofl2: :rofl2:

I'd quarantined it from the Bonnie in separate buildings, but it appears the need to mark it's territory occasionally is genetic.

From memory, the ecu in the "early" efi  triumphs is the same as in ktm and some aprillia bikes. At least for my 08 daytona 675 they were and the maps were freely available (users risk of course) and you could select from a range of tunes you could download. Mine had a triumph factory 3 into 1 pipe and i ran a custom tune uploaded to the  ecu via an obdII interface cable.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Hooli

I don't need any custom maps as the bike is staying standard. I want it for any diagnostics needed & also for bleeding the ABS block if I ever fully drain the braking system, although some reports say the older versions of the software don't do that bit.

Mick_J

You may have something there Hooli, I just had a look at the software I have and there is no mention of an ABS setting although there is a "Purge Control Valve" function.  Never had to use it on my tiger sport and my speed triple does not have ABS.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

The write ups vary on the triumphrat forum about which version does what, I'll find out one day when I look. There is another bit of software that does do the ABS, but that's £60 so I won't get it unless I need it.

I got the bags to go in the panniers this week, they should make life easier on overnight stops when touring. I just need to work out how to fit my twat-nav now, I've got a few ideas to try. I won't do what I did on the 14 & put it in a tank bag as the shape of the Sprint means the bag would be in my way riding & not as easy to see.

Hooli, i know nothing about your ABS unit. I do know we bleed many different types of cars with ABS. We have a scan tool, 3 actually, very expensive units. Cant remember ever needing to bleed a car using one. Some cars say to but old skool works. Vacuum bleeder for a few bucks is your friend. Air compressor type. Biggest trick with ABS unit, never let fluid flow backwards, i mean, pushing pistons back, always have bleeder open. If system runs dry, just suck thru from furthest bleeder. Thats from doing hundreds of cars. Seems to work, no stress Mate, Youll figure it out. The Snap On vac bleeder is brilliant but $200. Reckon i saw a Taiwan copy, $35, looks same. Will post link if you want. I can vouch for Snap On but never tried copy.reckon would do same job.

Hooli

Aye @grog that's the normal way. The software is for if the system has ever run dry, as normal bleeding leaves air trapped in the ABS control unit. It's also said that it's the only way to fully change the fluid in the ABS block, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't hold a huge amount so normal bleeding would do the job well enough once it mixes.

I recall years ago with Fords & some Jags to bleed the rear brakes you had to put the ignition on, hold the pedal halfway down & let the ABS pump purge the system. It's the same as that but done in a different way.

Last evening l thought it a good idea that instead of lane splitting I'd go up the outside next to the cheese grater. For the pleasure of doing that all the air went to the top of my rear tyre this l hadn't discovered this until l'd finished playing tennis at 9 o'clock. That bike is freaking heavy to push.
The bride was so pleased to drive the 20kms to come and get me. Luckily l was able to leave the bike at my hairdressers who lived nearby over night.
What a flippin hassle !!
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

KiwiCol

I pulled the batteries out from both bikes & put them on charge.

What a bugger for ya Col, I'd hate that.

Hey Hooli here's one that caught my eye at the bike shop,, the new Trident. Comes standard with Michelin Road 5's on. Not sure if management would enjoy being perched on the back... anyway  :onya:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Roo

Gave my beast a spray of degreaser under the motor and around the rear hub/swingarm. Then gave him a nice sudzy wash.
Haven't been that thorough for a year (happy birthday Kenworth !)... Beaut day here in the Horowhenua  NZ.

Day before I thought I'd do a little video of my usual fang roads to show.  But last time I did that was with my GSXR1000 and I forgot about the wind on the big naked (no fairing) derrr ... plus the camera was a little low showing mostly instruments. lol.   I'll redo the mounting and block off the speaker for my next attempt.   :whistling:

Kiwifruit

G'day Roo, cracker day in the Bay too.
I just can't suss that go-pro thing out. Takes all night to buffer then drops out.......along with my sense of humour  :furious:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎
