Cheers for the ideas, but I don't do podcasts.

Quote from: Irish in Oz on Tuesday, 20 January  2026, 08:25 PMI bought my first Trangia about 1979, brought it here to Oz years ago about 1986, bought another in UK to save me carting it back and forward, fanastic bit of gear, if I remember rightly they where invented in Sweden or neighbouring country.
I remember my parents having one when we used to camp as a kid, I just bought this one last week, fantastic little cooker, weighs next to nothing.  Metho burner (may upgrade to the propane burner at some stage), came highly recommended by club mates, will take it on the March overnight trip.

they have been made in Trangsviken in Sweden since 1925, design basically unchanged for 100 years, when on a good thing....
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

NP. There are many things I don't do. Including many that I would like to do ;)

Pick and choose from a wealth of options, That is one of the things I love about this day and age.

I used a Trangia for years while out and about in the hills.  Some of my mates said why do you bring an antique to the mountains, they are so slow to boil water but I found that if I put the Trangia on first thing and then set up my tent the kettle was boiled so I could have a cuppa as soon as I was under cover, brilliant.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

I'm using a mini tangier these days, was the cheapest one when I had to replace my cooker that refused to light on one camping trip. It does work well if I carry enough meths for it, as it likes a drink.

yes, mine's the 27-2, which is the smaller 1-2 person version, the 25 series is the original 3-4 person sized one.  the -2 means 2 saucepans and a frypan. you can get -1 as well, and also non-stick, hard anodised, engraved etc, but all that costs more $$$$.  I just wanted the smallest, simplest cooker.  now the burner also comes with a simmer lid that slows the burn rate.  Very handy.

Can't believe half a dozen posts and counting discussing a camping stove on a bike forum....

Not sure on the numbers for mine, I think it said 'mini' on the box when I got it.

Lots of bikers go camping & like small decent kit, so makes sense to me.

I've still got a small propane single burner cooker I brought when I was in High School.  Can still get the canisters for them & it still works fine.  The thing would be well over 50 years old! (53 years actually)
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

2026... Ride number 7.

403K's / 250 miles.

I'm slowly starting to get "ride fit" again and used to being on the bike as the rides get a little longer, the pain isn't quite as bad.

Rode to the gym and back. On the way home had a tosser on a HD with the obligatory safety shorts, flip flops and WWII helmet sit right up on the tail light of the 1402.  Clearly had no idea about staggering in the same lane, I moved left in the lane to let him past, he also went left. I went right to give him the message I couldn't see him, as he was sitting right in the blindspot, only reason I knew where he was was the engine note.

Got tired of these shenanigans, so I dropped two gears and 'gently' opened the go handle to leave him well and truly behind.

I usually don't bother riding if the weather forecast is that bad.
There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.

You wouldn't get out much, if you waited for good weather in Britain.  :happy1:  :rofl2:

You just have, to dodge the worst.  :onya:
