That's the one light thingy they never tested on mine. The ignition lock has the "P"-position (for park I assume); engine is off at that position. Think at least in one of the Down-Under countries they don't have the position light. Suzuki seems to have jumped on it not being required there to save a few bucks. Or whatever.

No park light originally here. I drilled mine and fitted one

So, none fitted. But the "P"-position on the ignition lock is there?

New tyres, 190/55/17 & 120/70/17
Michelin Road Pilot 6

Amazing how good the bike feels and handles. It's a Yes from me.

Plus caught up with the Historic & British mob for morning tea.

P position on switch, never used it. Headlight shell had indent mark where light fits. Reason for fitting was, came home on dark one night, didnt know headlight bulb had blown, wasnt dark enough for me to need it to see but was needed for others to see me.  Basically i was invisible. Used led globe, lasted 2 weeks, normal globe maybe a decade.

I'd suspect the P position is wired the same way so only illuminates the rear light. Would be interesting to know if that's correct though.

I took 14 to work yesterday as it was an office day, then to pub as it was quiz night. We not only won on the tie breaker but I also met Bailey, he's a Teacup Chihuahua. He's like a dog the size of a hamster, I find them quite amusing as they still act doglike unlike some small breeds.

The prize for the quiz is four free drinks, for a team of five. But it's a good laugh for the evening.

BTW, not my lap in the pic.

P is rear light Hooli. As for your dog, no comment really.

Hooli

Not my dog mate, but he's a nice enough rat. It's a proper pub where dogs are allowed, must have been 5 or 6 of them in last night.

FWIW, on my K6 when in 'P' the front mini bulb & the rear light illuminate.  I noticed this on the first day I got it, parked at the ferry terminal, bike locked & I'm inside the terminal building, look out at the bike & I can see the front light is on (dimly), go out to it & discover this 'P' setting on the ignition lock. Turned it up 1 position & still locked but light out.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Neighbor across has the same breed and also called Bailey :rofl2: Gets to ride with him in a small backpack.

BTW, mate of neighbor has a 14 :salute: So I have the pleasure to see another 14 once in a while in my street. :smitten:

The Snowball Effect

So after reading about play in the gearshift linkage, I had a look and there was a bit. It was dirty around the linkage as well, so I took it off to clean and also check the bushes etc. Marked where the pivot goes etc. Removed and cleaned it up. Put it all back on, then checking the gear shift, i noticed that when in gear, clutch in, the bike did not freewheel as I expected. Engine off.  I also hadn't checked the slave cylinder pushrod in a while, so pulled the cover off and gave it a clean up. Pulling in the clutch lever, watching the rod move, all nice and clean etc. Then I thought, I can't recall the last time I bled that slave, better check. Long story, but managed to strip the JIS heads from both resevoir screws. Ended up having to drill them out. Then had to buy a box of 100 M4x12 stainless countersink bolts, as they don't sell them separately. I had put temp M4x20 bolts in, but they're hex head and looked naff. Fitted the new bright stainless M4s today, doesn't look too bad, but would still prefer black ones.  Oh, and bled the clutch slave too, so at least that got done.

Added marine grease to the gear shift, a dab on the ball joints inside the rubber and all is good again.

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Lucky that the snowball-effect stopped before having to take the engine apart.

Nope, these screws don't have Philips heads. Stripping wouldn't have happened with the correct type and size JIS tool. Don't ask how I know. :boogie2:
