Well I waved goodbye to the Hornet tonight (for now, it's only out on loan), Nic picked her up earlier. Was rather odd to see someone ride off on it. Worth it to make a decent lass happy though & I know she'll look after her for as long as she's got her. I hardly ever used the bike so made sense to do it as well, never know she might buy her eventually if it takes too long to save up for a car licence, car & then the bike she wants.

I'll see it again Sunday anyway a bunch of us are off around the Peak District, Nic's first ride out on a big bike so I've tried not to pick any stupidly hard roads. She'd have no issues at all on her 125, but she's not used to the Hornet yet & all that stuff. She'll do fine I'm sure.

I was out all day on the HD too. A mate's wife's funeral, they're bikers, it's good weather so I went on the bike. Irish wake afterwards that was just getting loud & silly as I left about 4pm, seemed a great send off.

I was very glad I was on the bike on the way home. The A1 was shut & I filtered through about 10miles of stationary traffic that'd been there so long people were out the cars walking dogs & playing cricket in the middle of the road   Talking to a trucker at the front, he'd been stuck for over 2hrs when they let us go, I'd turned in time to wait a bit over 1/2 hour.

Your a good sort Hooli, lending your bike to a mate.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

She's taken it to work this morning & messaged me something like 'omg wow i can see what you kept warning me about how easy it is to go too fast on them without noticing' then said she hit 90mph

I think she's liking it.

Finished off a major service, replaced throttle cables, fitted Renthal 847 ultra low fatbars and risers, ripped the tired OEM shocks out in preparation for the YSS RG362 +25mm shocks arriving this week.

I've only owned this one for a few weeks but I'm managing to make some headway towards getting it set up how I want it.

Put the original standard exhausts back on the bike Thursday evening, as I like the look of them & went for a run on Friday evening, didn't bother changing the map on the PC3 & the bike ran great to be fair, still very responsive & nice and smooth with no popping or banging...

Quite like the smooth quiet idle with the originals on but hell they are quiet, I'm used to hearing the note of the non standards while out and about, non of that with the originals so back on with the Beowulf Warriors last night, slightly strange that the noise from them is the same with and without the baffles fitted, well at idle in the garage any way. Also have a pair of original cans that I have modified but they are a bit louder again, would just like something in between the standards & Warriors, Beowulf offer a super quiet baffle so may give them a shot or try and modify mine

Still have a bit of a rattle from the top end, I think it's down to the gaskets on the reed valves being shot allowing them to rattle, seems to quieten down once things get warmed up and expand. Have been trying to get some of the rubber gaskets but they are only available with the reed valves at almost £100 each which is extortionate so will just have to keep my eyes peeled for some coming up on ebay etc

Other than this the 23 year old girl still provides the big grin factor  :)

This will probably only mean anything to UK riders....

Should have seen her on the Cat & Fiddle today, no trouble at all & carried a decent bit of speed while being safe & sensible. She's quicker and safer over there than some people I know who've ridden for years. We were out in a group of 7 bikes & when we stopped at the tea room, I went back with Nic & rode the whole thing again as she was too far bac in the group to see the first time.

Was very good to see how well she rode it, I'm happy she's safe on the Hornet now so I won't be worried she'll hurt herself on it. I thought that'd be the case, but it's good to have seen it first hand.

All in all a damn good 140+ miles on country roads around the Peak District.

Always looking at reducing wheel inertia, as well as aiming to a slightly 'weaker' rear brake, I finally managed to install a smaller (and much lighter) rear brake disc -- thanks to AllBike Engineering for making this bespoke disc on request.

First test while just breaking in a new tyre looks promising, but the pads still need a bit more time to let me see where I am actually at with braking itself :-)
At least, no more gigantic OEM disc to partly mask this pretty Dymag wheel, viewed from this side.

I changed the fork seals and covers with the help of my son in law Liam.

This might not seem like much, but it could be the start of me actually finishing the rebuilt on the last bike I'd ever sell. Stroppy has made it to the garage!
There was no room with the Hornet living on the ramp, so that's part of the reason I was happy to lend it out. But tonight I've got a strangely empty kitchen & a full garage again.

Most of the difficult stuff is done. I want to get the rocker boxes & carbs on at least. Then it can go next door to a mate who builds custom bikes to make me a new electrics box. After that it's just wire it up & connect everything.

We'll see how long it takes, I've still got to decide between points & some form of electronic wizardry for the ignition. I had no luck with Boyer Breakdown, so whatever goes on won't be one of them.

Looking forward to seeing this one develop here at Dibley Towers Hoolie !!
