I'd reckon maybe a cup (250ml) if that.

BTW, I see Penrite now sells their aussie made  oul filters. Plus they're a nice gold colour, so I will have a nice gold knob instead of a chrome one
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Eric, for a cupful I won't bother. Chrome filter ordered, saw the Penrite gold also. If I don't like it, I'll paint it black. Think I've had white and red before. Not really concerned 🤷🏼

Uncle-P

Chucked the over pipes on, graphite gaskets are shot, so put an order in for another pair. (Couldn't find anything to expand the Delkevic mid-pipe reasonably, so I got the local exhaust bloke to put them on the machine and expand them to resistance fit the flange on the Over's) they look the goods and I'm sure my neighbours are happier as they are much quieter than the old cans I had even without the baffles in.

Hooli

I took my tractor for it's MOT today, it was a week overdue but it's the first chance I've had to do it. It'd done almost exactly 8k miles in the last year, I knew I hadn't used it much as half of them must have been the Norway trip.

I might wash it tomorrow as the roads were dirty & it's a bit manky. Or I might ignore it & do some more work on 14 Mk2, which means a quick read of the manual as I plan to do the clutch springs next (after finishing the rear brake) as I'm working forwards along the bike so I don't miss anything.

Youtube on the Spanish  "La Taberna del Motor" and using a translator I suggest watching videos -with laboratory analysis included- of top oils such as Amsoil, Redline and Ravenol.
Of course there are many more common ones such as castrol, motul etc etc

Hooli

I washed & polished the tractor then got distracted from working on 14 Mk2 by taking Snotbox to the pub as it was sunny & nice out.

grog

Today was remove clutch cover day to polish. Had a sit and a ponder. Got the extra cut polish out, exercised the elbow, got the shiny polish out, fixed two tiny scratches marks with marker pen. Looks almost new now😀 Saved quite a few bucks, was never sure polished or black. Black it stays.

Hooli

Yeah I don't like them polished at all.

Talking of polishing though, I need to get some very fine grit paper as the silver engine fins have been painted black on my Mk2. They're going back to normal as it looks crap.

Eric GSX1400K3

Well, im on the fence on this actually.  I do like the original polished chrome when its all even, but I dont like the "pitted look", even though it tells of many happy road miles.

A decent brushed stainless finish does look good, but its a right pita to get right.

Swing arm is brushed finish, as is top yoke, so I kinda think thr covers would look pretty good done the same.

And ive managed to say all of that without saying I like a polished knob...oh dear

Ps. Agree that the engine cooling fins need to be bright, not painted.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Kiwifruit

Gave the bike a good clean. Fitted my new tyres, front discs and pads, new front wheel bearings and seals. Gave the calipers and pistons a birthday. Metalgear brakes are nice and smooth, rides like a new one again. Well pleased
:smitten:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Coopz

Not a 1400 but after months of dicking with the carbs on my old XS-RH I've finally ripped them out and given them to a professional to balance and tune. After 30 minutes he found multiple little issues with leaks, float problems, and other niggles that I had no idea about...
I could only ever get it running well at low or high revs, never a balance of both. When it occasionally did run right it gives the 1400 a run for its money (well it would if it didn't weigh 1.2 tons).

Kiwifruit

Friend rode an XS1100 in the Castrol 6 Hour at Amaroo Park in the pissing rain,  1982 I think it was. From memory well into the race I think they were running 5th or 6th before enthusiasm exceeded adhesion. They're a great bike Coopz.
Same fella won the 350 Class on a pre production LC350 in the NZ Castrol 6 Hour here at Manfield. The first win for an LC anywhere in the world..
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Mr Gee

Still messing with the electrics, looking for the illusive intermittent fault.  :cry2:

However, as you guys suggested, I have now, fitted a secondary earth.  :onya:

Also combined the earths off the auxiliaries, into a single block so now, there is only, one wire coming off the battery

terminal.  :clapping:

GSXKING

On the way home I had the flashing icons on the dash. I pulled into the petrol station and fueled up with 95ron. $41 on the pump WTF I said out loud.
It's only going to go up so I'm going to only buy fuel using my credit card and then get my 21 day's interest free and pay off the lump sum once a month.
I certainly hope that this Iran war doesn't become protracted 🤞🤞

Chris
Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

KiwiCol

That's cheap compared to here Chris, we're paying $3.60 - $3.80 a litre for 95 & diesel has gone ballistic, the local truckstop has it for $3.50 a litre, before this Iran shite it was $1.57 - $1.60 / L for diesel.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎
