Andre

At least it is not during bike season. I call that lucky. Or just well timed?

Actually found time for the long awaited oil & filter change today. 40mins.  :boogie2: Spent the next 2 1/2 hours fitting a new bulb into the cr4ppiest aftermarket mini indicators i`ve ever seen :furious: Finally, spent one second opening a can of San Miguel...... Good to go!

Andre

I am likely not going to bother changing a bulb on my cheapo mini indicators. At 10€ a piece they go into the trash. Took one of the identical indicators that came with the bike apart so I know that it will be a PIA to change bulbs. Replaced the old ones as the screws were rusty.

Dad couldnt make this next cruise so the bride and l had to come off the bench and take his place.
Just leaving Nelson now and heading to Kiwicols weekend retreat of Kaikoura. Managed to get onto Norfolk Island which was pretty exciting due to a decent swell running as we tendered ashore.
Been a tough day today trying to keep out of the sun......
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Had my hospital appointment yesterday to have Cortisone injections in both my worn out thumb joints. I have to say that it was a very painful and unpleasant experience. If these don't work the next route is surgery on both hands to try and make the worn joints work better. Not a route I really want to go down to be honest as there is a long recovery period after each hand is done with no guarantee of success.
I'm also waiting to see a consultant ref my lower back which is according to recent x-rays is in a hell of a mess. I'm in constant pain and dosed up on painkillers all the time now. I'm still able to work, but it's becoming more painful and difficult all the time.
Mrs F has also had to give up work due to her Fibromyalgia, so the future isn't looking too good for either of us at the moment. I haven't ridden either of my bikes since last August and I'm struggling a bit to come to terms with the fact they'll both probably be sold this year. Just have to see how things turn out in the long run.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Really sorry to hear @froudy and Mrs. F.

Cortisone shots should do the job. Unfortunately they will have to be repeated regularly. Father-in-Law had a knee replacement done when he was sick of having the needles stuck in regularly. At first he liked the result and wanted his other knee done as well. After some time he said that he regreted having his knee done and that he should have stayed with the cortisone shots.

I had a cortisone shot in my back. First (and only) time I saw a huge fireball with closed eyes in a dark room. Doc didn't want to do it at first but when I told him that I needed to function for a vaccation with my daughter (flew in from western US to Germany) he conceded. Sticking something into an inflamed area is a guarantee for pain.

Had hyaluronic acid shots later on by another doc. They (or other Tx or combination) helped. Best advice I got was during my first rehab. Was told that my entire back was crap. Not much could be done and best route would be to strengthen the muscles and keep 'em that way. Ok???

Then I hit the jack pot with a great sports therapist (a good looker too) during a VERY long rehab (6 months in a clinic). I was in a group with the very flattering word "invalids" in its name. I couldn't even carry 2 kg in a backpack. 2 years after that rehab I did sets of squats with 185 kg and deadlifts with 225 kg.

Because of that sports therapist (and my compliance) I am back on the 14 :boogie:

Mine is an unusual result. Everyones situation is different. But it may give you (and others) something to think about.

The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

That is real bad news Steve, and it'll be very depressing to think you may sell both bikes.  As we age, we all slowly loose mobility and functionality of bits, but yours is a huge kick in the guts!   Just hope something can be remedied for you both.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

DP1400

Sorry to hear about your health issues froudy. Lets hope that treatment works out really well, whatever you opt for. In the meantime, don`t even consider selling your bikes until you`re absolutely sure that you have to, otherwise you will regret it one day! All the very best to you both.
Dave.

Sweaty

Sorry to read the news on both your health issues Steve.
Best wishes with the treatment & outcome & hope that means being back on the 14 sometime.

I sympathize M/Rs F - the Misses and I have been going through the battles as well. Eye surgery and plumbing for her. I am waiting to 'see' if my eyes return to some normalcy otherwise I may be selling my bikes as well. Prognoses is good but there is always that element of the unknown. All the best for you guys! Age is a bugger!
Stan
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

Today rode 1k down to fuel station. First ride forever without ear plugs. Couldnt believe how much noise, bike and helmet.
