Today rode 1k down to fuel station. First ride forever without ear plugs. Couldnt believe how much noise, bike and helmet.

I've accidentally ridden without ear plugs a couple of times over the years..The wind noise is unbelievable, especially once you get on the motorway!
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Yes, try it with a wee fairing aiming all the blast at yer head.  I'm deaf as n it's very loud.

Yeah, sounds like the bike is falling apart doesn't it? very worrying.

I got told I'm at IAM standard today & there was nothing he could complain about with my riding so I've been put in for the test. Chuffed with that as one other observer had made me consider giving up. We'll see what happens when the test happens, which should be within two weeks.

Oh & I got airborne during the assessed ride as it's rude not to do so on crests like that

Wife and l finished our cruise two days early when the ship berthed in our home port of Tauranga.
l've been in bed most of the last three days. Woke at 2.30am this morning to the sound of the missus quietly crying, she's got a massive migraine. Rang the hospital to get an idea if she may have the latest invention out of China. They said no and that it would be safe to go to the after hours doctors. Nurse askes some questions then backs out of the room. Then a doctor turns up in a hazmat suit. After a good check up the suits off and he says she or rather both of us have a nasty case of the flu.
We are unlikely to ever put ourselves on a ship with 1100 other people many of them coughing and spluttering through one of the remaining things on their bucket list.
Orher that that we had a great time.
Really looking forward to visiting some of those places again on the bike.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

got it out of the garage as not been washed or looked at - had to be brought home for me as I blew out a knee - new chain all tight and manky (took an age to clean and free off) - it not suffered that badly but took an hour or so to wash

back on it tomorrow  :onya:

I found out why mine clanked for the last few miles home yesterday, the sprocket carrier bearing has utterly collapsed. Surprising as it felt smooth & fine on weds when I got the new tyres fitted.

Local shop has one, so looks like I'll be fitting that after collecting it tomorrow. I just hope the wheel bearings don't go the same way as they all came together. I'd thought 'All Balls' was a decent make, now I'm not as sure.

12k, hence I'm wondering about the wheel bearings. I normally get 20-25k before these start to wobble let alone fall apart.

KiwiCol

12k sounds very short, maybe change the rear wheel bearings as well.

That's the thing, I did the wheel bearings at both ends at the same time with the same make of bearings from the same place.

The wheel bearings feel fine though..

Andre

Where the hell is all that rust coming from in such a short (I assume) time?

The dust cap looks trashed too.

What does the spacer (that goes inside the dust cap) look like?

Hooli

Those are good questions. The spacer is fine as is the carrier etc, it's just the bearing fell apart.

They got fitted about mid August so the rust is a mystery to me too. I can only assume it wasn't greased at the factory, I never checked under the seals before fitting it.

Roo

hope they didn't just fit bearings without repacking them with grease, thats slack !
