Just my opinion, so take it with a large pinch of salt, a lot of folk do like Gen-1's.

I've had various Gen-1's since 2004. Only recently bought a Gen-2 but had a B-King since 2007 which is close to being a Gen-2, had a Gen-3 for over a year.

I personally think the 2 is a noticeable improvement over a 1, it's also the most powerful Busa. The 3 suffers from a high price and having to meet emissions that the 2 didn't have too. Busa's do get better by the age, but the 2 offers the most for your dollar.

Busa bore.

Gen-1.
99-00 1299cc unrestricted and same ECU.
01 different ECU again.
Early bikes also had different fuel pumps, different subframes.
03-07 similar with a different ECU again.
Gen-1's have 6 pot brakes that aren't a patch on the later radials and 2nd gear failures although not super common certainly affects Gen-1's more.

Gen-2.
1340cc 08-12 Non-ABS, non-Brembo.
13-20 ABS, Brembo.

Gen-3.
1340cc 2022 on, factory quickshifter, cruise control etc. Huge amount of minor engine changes.

B-King.
1340cc Gen-2 engine. Gen-2 wheels.
Forks swap but B-Kings are softer.
Rear shock swaps but Busa's is longer.

Gen-1 not restricted.
Gen-2 most powerful.
Gen-3 fastest acceleration.

For some reason all 3 tails swap, from the earliest Gen-1 to the latest Gen-3 the subframes use the same mounts.

All Busa's got a 190/50, all B-Kings got a 200/50, lots of owners fit a 190/55 to both.

Not unlike GSX14's, there's differences between early and late but nothing drastic to love and hate.

Cheers, Tony and Grog. I just picked up my new LR defender, so I'd be pushing it to add another bike to the stable.  I'm not in a rush, will keep an eye out for a gen 2 busa, maybe a  project bike. Never know.  May sell the bmw. I haven't decided yet. 1400 will stay, that's for sure.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

This arrived in the mail the other day, thought I'd give it a go, so far so good.  Mornings have been crisp here (7-8 deg c at 6am) , so winter jacket with lining in, but 23-24 deg c on thr way home.  Can tell the airflow under the legs is noticeable, seating is a bit higher 10mm or so, comfort is good so far, yet to try it on a multi-hour ride.

Yes. I was after a specific year / model / mileage so it took a while to find one I was happy with.

34,000K's, recent service, new tyres, braided lines, Carbon cans.

Did you get that from Kawasaki at Bowen Hills?

There was one the same/very similar sitting on their lot a few weeks back noted as sold.

I didn't know blue was a factory colour, but if it is I bloody well want one!
(but just a pipe dream)

No. Private sale of Ipswich Rd.

There have been a few similar blue Gen-2's.
Lighter Blue graphics, gold graphics or white graphics for different years. I think the 08 and 11 may be the same blue with different trim colours as the plain blue single seat humps share the same part number.

Haven't been to Bowen Hills since I had my H2 SX serviced there and never went back for it!

A battery for the Rav-4. It was still showing 12.8v but on cold morning was getting lazy and Mrs does a 180k drive either early morning or late evening on her own.

If I drove all the way to the city Supercheap wanted $229 for one, Repco wanted $225 for one.

Collecting the mail from the little local town I see the towns tyre fitters, two old guys normally sticking tyres on tractors, 4x4's and ride on mowers.

"How much for a battery if you have one?"

"$190 fitted (Rav's don't always like power being disconnected) with a 30 month warrantee. 1 in stock"

Done !

As i said yesterday, bought Honda largest selling item, a whipper snipper. It actually starts easily, not something i could say about last one i just binned.

I did hope the price of Gen-2's would have dropped after the release of the 3 but the 3 had a bit of a salty price rise and folk over reacted to it having a fraction less horsepower, so Gen-2 prices stayed strong.

There's a few around closer to $8k but rarely cheaper. They are still in demand by drag racers and sprint car builders etc so holding some value.

Saw a yellow today, i dont know which version, had same exhaust as your new Tony, Id like my bike to sound that way.

Dramatic drop in temps here. Yesterday I was sat outside the cafe in a T-shirt enjoying the day, today it's down to low single digit temps and some very strong winds. It's like going to bed in one season and getting up in another.

So.... I bought some warmth.

Seasoned Ironbark hardwood.
