Same here took a 90 min ride out this afternoon just to blow the cobwebs away and give the battery a top up not that I think it needed it, oh I also fixed my rear light cluster as the mounting bolts were all loose, I wondered why i could here a vibrating noise at the rear.

KiwiCol

Tally, one should not mention ones vibrating noises at the rear . . .  What you do in your own space is your own business . . . :whistling:  :stir:  :onya:

Speaking of vibrating, I took the HD out sunday for a change.

I had to go for an x-ray today so I thought I'd take my 14, but the bloody heap of rusty jap crap had a better idea.

No fast idle, coughing & spluttering like mad & hardly rideable as it happened a few hundred yards from home. The usual fault code for STVA which explains all the issues, but I can't find any reason for it. Been though all the checks, STVA resistance is correct, wiring is all good & the resistance reading at the ECU plug is the same as the STVA plug proving that.

I know I had this last year & eventually tracked it down, damned if I can remember what it was though. Think I'll spend some time trying to hunt through my old posts as I'm bound to have mentioned the fix on here somewhere.

Thankfully the Hornet being a Honda just fired up & worked despite being ignored since Feb so I still got to get the x-ray done.

Hmmm, from memory wasn't it something to do with an oil temp sensor?  Bike thought it was freezing all the time & running rich.  Could be confused or recalling wrongly too.

Took the gsxr for its MOT yesterday, once the gsx is ready she'll be next.

Wrong fault but good memory. That was when it was using twice as much fuel as it should.

The current issue is a C28 error. I've found what I did on another forum, sorted the connection that screws to the STVA. But if tried that earlier without luck.

I might try again tomorrow. It's rather annoying that there's no fault I can find after checking through the loom all the way.

My first thought was oil temp sensor as well

(no not really,it was "I wonder what hooli is getting x-ray'd")

I recall on here I think it was Seth that said a C28 code can also happen if the little circular magnet that sits inside the stva actuator breaks.

But then voltage at the sensor and the plug may be different?

There was a post of stripping it and aralditing it back together.

I get the occasional c28 code, and like hooli, everything else checks out.  I'm planning to pull the throttle bodies off to get to the stva actuator and check that magnet.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Pete (aka @Snapey) knows all about those STVA rebuilds

Evening All,

I'm changing the fork oil on the 14 and following the excellent write up on the forum.

My question is having drained the oil out of the leg and compressed the slider into the fork leg, how far should it compress?

If I extend the slider, measurement from top of slider to fork leg is approx. 18".

Fully compressed, measurement is approx. 13"

I've not attempted this before and was imagining the slider to compress a lot further into the leg 🤷♂️

Hoping all is in order 🤞

This photo shows slider fully compressed into fork leg.
