@gsxbarmy

I quite like taking water shots...
Quite pleased with this snow one as well. During all the snow we had a few weeks back, this must have been the most photographed pair of garden chairs in the whole country :laugh:

Keep it up! It is rewarding as a hobby in its own right but it is also important to record those moments you have experienced and places you have been.

I have been using Pentax DSLRs for the last few years and I always take it with me if I am having a day out on the bike. You may have seen some of the pictures I have taken in the trip reports I have posted up in previous years, many of the photos are also posted up on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/rynglieder/albums

On touring trips I tend to take just the camera body and an 18-55 zoom for reasons of space and weight.

In truth at the moment it is mostly just used as a point and shoot in auto mode, hopefully one day I will have the time to get to know the equipment better and exploit it properly.
It's not just the number of megapixels or even the quality of the optics, hitting the moment or spotting something in a subject is what makes a photo special.

I particularly like this one I took of Glenfinnan viaduct. I expect a million people have taken a snap of the Jacobite steam train crossing it but I think the steam from the exhaust hanging over then glen against the colours of the autumn foliage after the train had passed makes for a much more interesting picture.

@Rynglieder

That is a very striking photo. It captures the scene perfectly and in a different way to how most people would see it :onya:

It's a roman aqueduct that had just delivered a load of fresh hot water for the bath. :coffeescreen:

Another great shot. Have always enjoyed your trip reports and the photos you take.
To capture a moment in time is a record of your life. I look back now at photos taken nearly 40 years ago and recently with people in those photos share a laugh about a time in our lives that perhaps never recalled since the day the photo was taken.

I really enjoy the photos you blokes post on the site. Keep them coming.  :onya:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Really great pics fellas, a talented lot indeed.

I have a Fujifilm SLR with a good spec & zoom, & a little Lumix, also with a very good spec, & actually, I prefer the little Lumix
as its all metal & hides easily in the pocket. Having said that, most of the newer cameras a very good nowadays.
I DO have to grow old, I DO NOT have to grow up.

A few more from when I was in Iceland
- one of the most impressive waterfalls I've seen (these were the same ones I posted the shot of the rainbow across earlier)
- some pictures of the icebergs (and this was in Autumn!). The glacier in the background my wife and I had walked on earlier in the day
- the moon at 2:00AM in the morning!
- sun-up starting around 6:00am
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement :lol:

The BEST falls in the world are the Foz do Iguacu

The volume of water is staggering - makes Niagara Falls  look like a little stream (and they aren't).

More info here and here

I'm sure I've got some images that I took somewhere... but that was 27 years ago-ish and would have been on film.  I'll have to do some digging.
