Filter is great option Snapey. One of my fave mods. I often read on here about cleaning the tea bag, all good but high pressure is still blocked. 1/2 the job done.

I put 200 miles on mine going to see Cosford RAF museum on friday. It was a bit cold n slippy out but nice to use it.

Had a nice couple hours as I took the opportunity of having the sun shining. Finger tips were freezing though. Had a late start because my friend had invited me over last night for some delicious beers, good music, and conversation. Then some needed maintenance work delayed me further.

Riding them well-known (to me) curves in 2nd/3rd gears convinced me that I did right equalizing them resistors inside the GP sensor. Noticeable improvement of smoothness in the first half of throttle. Costs where less than a ball of ice cream.

Got the wiring all done & the following fitted, Zumo GPS, Radar Detector, 12v USB Power Supply, GoPro mount, DRD Speedo corrector (and calibrated for speedo to read correct) 10.3% high with the 17 tooth front sprocket & the usual zook inaccuracy of around 6.4%.

50Kph on GPS is 50 on speedo, 60 on GPS is 60 on speedo & 100 is same on both, so she's close enough for me.  If the chance presents itself to compare at higher speeds, I'll certainly do that too. (on a track of course . . .)

Fixed the headlight adjustment & replaced the std bulbs with +120's from the donor bike. Swapped mirrors from bike to bike & added the fixing screws to the fairing from the donor too.
The 'old' black is looking a bit lean now, all the bits stripped off - looking more like a track bike every day!!
Now, got rear shocks to swap over. Might do that tank mod to enlarge the breather hole at the top too, have a go on the spare tank first I think.

going well Col. most impressed. certainly picked yourself back up, on with life. we just have to do what we have to do. well done mate. i havent done the fuel tank mod on mine yet, just thought of it tonight after nearly running out this morn. maybe a hit with a screwdriver with shaft right thru? not totally sure.

Andre

Haven't done it yet. Still using the trickle-method. Shouldn't take much widening to get desired effect. Will likely use a small awl . Don't want to use other things as small metal stuff might fall into tank. Will be holding on tightly to the tool so it does fall into the tank

Hi Col,
Good to hear your back in the saddle and well on with the fettling!

Doesn't seem right referring to the old girl as 'donor bike' I had a tear in my eye reading that 😢

I know exactly what you mean there Red, I feel awful myself. last night after I'd done everything I was going to do, I went to put the cover on 'ole blue' & it was weird, there's the black bike, in a striped down configuration & it's cover is being put on this other bike!  Know what? didn't cover the blue, I put it back on the disheveled black.
When I'm taking bits off it & swapping them over, I'm telling the black these bit are helping to make the blue better & they live on.  The engines may even get a swapped at some stage - occasionally hear some odd noises while riding the blue, but that could just be the crap helmet I'm using till my new one arrives.

It still rides ok. I'll swap the bits I need & then maybe look at putting new handle bars on & a foot brake pedal (or try straightening this one) I've got the original headlight for both bikes, so easy to turn it back to std. Only issue is the tank has scratches, else you'd never know.

However, having it all striped of the extras, does make me think it would be a great track bike to play with. Just a big ole striped naked, with a big heavy rider!!

I'll see, main focus for me at the moment is getting 'ole blue' up to spec & how I like it.

It's done!  Ole Blue is now ready for a life on the road with me.  I thought the change over would take quite a few weekends, but instead, I've got it done in 4 nights & an afternoon.  Really pleased.

The black is also running again, albeit with no exhaust past the collector (just have to re-fit) & no headlight or indicators on the right. I gave the scrape marks on the tank a bit of cut n polish & improved the appearance no end. Still visible, but looks more like a brush with a hedge or bush as opposed to going over a bank.

Still undecided as to what I'll do with it, but for all the parts I've got off it, it owes me nothing & yet it's still there & ok to ride. (would need new handle bars & brake pedal) Don't think I'll sell it anyway, just thinking of a cunning plan to have both on the road . . .

That was blazing fast :salute: Sounds like you need to catch up on sleep

Good to hear 'ole Black' still has a heartbeat Col.
Nice touch with the cover (you do have a heart after all!)
Nice to have the option of what to do with her, maybe Blue for day to day and Black for special occasions 🤘
