Been a while but the Healtech ATRE made a huge difference to mine at slower revs, around town etc. I'll turn it off next ride, just to check.

Good shout about the TRE Grog, forgot I had one fitted, going to remove it to see if that's causing issues.

Going down the rabbit hole...I checked the voltage at the TPS also with the dash indicator, on mine the upper line didn't come up until it was reading just over 1.35v at TPS, the lower line didn't show until it was down to 0.87v, I've set it at 1.1v, so nearly 0.5v leeway according to the dash/ecu.......I must get a life...

Crap that keeps us interested/ happy is what life is about.Doesnt matter what the subject is. IMO

interesting that this is where it should be set 1100mV at 1100rpm idle....
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Diagnosed my TRE as faulty, our GPS's have a set of different value resistors for each gear, so the ECU will map slightly differently for each gear I believe, neutral is an open circuit, my TRE failed as open circuit on the pink wire, so my ECU thought I was in neutral all the time, haven't had chance to go for a ride as the damp stuff has returned. Also noticed with the faulty TRE in circuit I was getting random C31 GPS fault, that has now gone.

That's great news T250, hopefully solve your problem. 👏 Buy a Healtech, I wouldn't be out it with gear indicator. Just my opinion 😎

can you share what voltages are expected per wire? My TRE has been in about 5years, never checked it. Isn't it only for 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear ?

4th as well Eric. 5&6 are already 4 advanced, reason I don't like physical advance on backing plate, Healtech only does 1-4. They are clever people so good enough for me. Over 10 years on mine, never a problem 👍

Its resistance Eric, if you disconnect the TRE then measure across the Pink and Black coming from the GPS you will see the readings change as you change gear. The TRE will have a reading across the Pink and Black equal to 5th or 6th gear reading, that's how it tricks the ECU in removing the timing retard as it applies 5th or 6th map, Blue wire is just for the neutral light.

Great work T250 👏 Think I've also read somewhere, if in gear 6 for a certain time, bike goes into a low fuel usage mode. I've tried my arse out to find articles, I will eventually

Both TRE's and ignition advancers have their flaws.

A basic TRE sends the same signal in every single gear, not what is best for each gear.

An ignition advancer moves the timing in every gear, if it needs it or not.

Modern ECU's fixed this and let you set each individual gears timing to exactly where its works best.

I guess in theory a smart TRE could read each individual signal and send an ideal corrected signal but none of the ones I've used could do this or be adjusted or be set.

Early Busa TRE's also remove the top speed restrictions. As soon as they went on sale someone disassembled one and found out what was in it. From then on we just soldered in a 20c 6.8ohm resister.  Not ideal but cheaper than buying a very expensive plastic box and plugs.

Modern ECU's made TRE's and ignition advancers obsolete and do a far far better job.

This is getting, too technical for me, to keep track of.  :confused1:  ???

What did I do today. I washed my bikes. ?First time for a while, been to busy riding them, instead.

Hooli

Nothing except remember I really should take the old Givi rack I've got apart & send the metal bits off for blasting & powder coating. That might last longer than the 5-10mins the original paint did.
