Not 100% happy with the B-King front brakes.
I put 100+K's on them and slowly built up how hard I used them.

They work, but there's a tiny bit more drag when spinning the wheel, and they seem a tiny bit more "grabby" than they used to be.

Not awful, but after 18 years use there's definitely a difference.

New Ferodo pads.
New wave discs.
Different wheel and tyre.

I'll remove and refit the wheel, give the callipers / pistons a clean and use some new fluid, then put another 100k's on them.

Before I consider any major work or spending on what I have, I'll have a look for some Hayabusa calipers (2012-2012 got Brembo's) or even a Busa front end (firmer suspension) See what's available.

Im down at my mum's on Snotbox, damn glad I didn't use a decent bike to get here a few days ago as half the 3 1/4 hour trip was heavy rain and hail. The Bloo Thing or Quinn would need hours of cleaning, Snotbox stays dirty.

I've found the starting fault on my mum's bike while down here. A rotten almost broken connector on the side stand relay and a duff solenoid. The dodgy connection earths the solenoid so makes sense it's caused the trigger wire in the solenoid to burn out.
I've managed to get the connector out and solder the wire to it, so that's fixed. I just need to order another solenoid now.

Everything else down here is non bike stuff, fixing little fences, making little gates from scrap wood, sorting the frame over the pond that was almost falling over, reroofing bird tables and playing with the dogs.

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

well As in The Mighty Quinn ?

Well done mate in helping out your mum.

Nah, when I got the HD I met a mate who worked near the dealer for lunch. She named it Harley Quinn.

Although I sometimes say Quinn the Eskimo as it came from the frozen north.

Virago 250 and not for the last year or so. Arthritis in her hands and knees means she's stopped as she doesn't feel safe on it.
It's up for sale, but decided to play up when she gave it an occasional start to keep it running.

I opened a parcel from Dutchy clog land...

The very kind gifts of a 14 tail piece & bagster tank cover (black) have arrived from Blubber. They are now in the stack of bits that'll get used to sort my proper 14 when the time comes.

From memory the only big bits I want to source now are both master cylinders & a RH K2 switch gear. But the project isn't happening soon so just keeping an eye out occasionally on ebay etc for those. I know the switch gear is used on lots of bikes, so I'll cross check to make a list & search for those too. Probably the same with the master cylinders.

Hooli, if you take a look at Fowlers parts they show what part is correct for your model year and also cross refer that part to all and any other bikes it fits, not sure if it's only Suzuki bikes though.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

That's handy, cheers. I knew Webike did, I didn't know of any others.

Took the bike for mot....yesterday. Obviously it passed, went to collect and the mot guy just said "Ah yes the pretty one"   :notworthy:
Just to add he's not talking about me.
Swopped bikes and took out the z1000sx, gsx feels like a pair of comfortable shoes, broken and and familiar, zed feels like lightweight trainers, all flighty and twitchy.
Thankfully we all like different things, and I like a modded GSX1400

The Z would leave the 14 for dead though wouldn't it?
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

According to semi official 0-60 no, I have  read on here gsx 0-60 2.8 to 3 sec, z is quoted at 3.5.
Don't get me wrong it is very quick and I will never get close to the limits on either bike. Fun fact the 195/50 rear tyre on the Zed is around 15mm wider. Z has Michelin, gsx has angle gt. How do I know, z would fit into the bike mover I have.

I found out long ago that tyre sizes aren't the exact science I thought they were. Lots of variations between brands and models.

I have a GSX11 with wider rear rim. Some 160's are close but run fine on the road. Other 160's physically touch tight enough to make the bike unrideable.

I was just surprised how much wider it was, makes it a bit of a pain adjusting the width of the motormover everytime I swop bikes, so to combat that problem I purchased an Abba stand and the wheel tray, it will be handy as no centrestand on zed. The other thing I did notice on power difference is the zed either goes very light at the front, or its lifting its front wheel, gsx is so heavy near the front it keeps it planted when giving it the beans, I'm sure if I tried hard enough it would lift but I don't really want it too.

My mate's left rear indicator had stopped working on the way home yesterday. A prod around under the seat suggested substandard connections from her ex fitting them. So tonight I peeled all the insulation tape off to find loosely twisted together wires. They're now soldered, heat shrunk and tied up out the way so things under the seat can't cause issues again.
On a standard bike they run behind the toolkit so are out of the way but cause she's got an under tray the rear of the OE mudguard section is cut off and that's all missing.
It's sorted now anyway and we went to the pub afterwards because it was rude not too.
