lurch

Quote from: Mr Gee on Sunday, 15 February  2026, 05:40 AMWow. A dry day, clear skies, bright and sunny with the temperature into double figures. 2 degrees. :onya:

Was going to take the 14 for a spin but no joy. Light not flashing on the antenna, so not registering key anymore. :confused1:

Ho hum. Took the XSR9 instead. Not too far, a steady, bimble around the lanes and Poolhall for a cuppa, on the way home. :clapping:

Snow forecast for tomorrow. :whatever:
Not so different to my corner of sunny Queensland today. Apparent temp 10 deg and raining. Only a slight change from the near 40 deg days out where I've been working

Rain here!  Most folk are glad to see some here.
Had 5 or 6mm a few times but now it's proper rain.
My tanks are full and back up to 141,000 ltrs, the lawns and paddocks are starting to green up again, all the new trees are getting a drink.  Most we've seen this year.  Only lost about 6 trees during the hot dry spell.

I don't ride on weekends anyway, but it'll make next week interesting. If it stops I'll give it a day or two to clean the roads up, might take the DRZ.

I've had two trees damaged in the wind and rain, neither were huge and both I've cut back and I think I've saved.

Should be in the shed but I'm feeling lazy.
I have plugs, air filter and oil filter, and a few other bits to do to the B-King before it gets new tyres. It'll wait.

No power again tomorrow morning. 6th time it's been turned off  in about a year, plus a few unplanned power cuts , The generator has fuel, sat ready to go.

2026:
19 trees planted.
13 bike rides.
8 Parkruns.

I rode around 5klm 😁 after my son and I finished doing some jobs on my ZZR1200.

Oil & Filters, braided brake & clutch lines, new brake pads. New master cylinder & Slave cylinder kits, changed the headlight complete that had some minor scratches on the lens to a new one that came with the bike when I bought it. Fitted LED bulbs in the headlights, LED bulbs in the clearance lights and all the instrument lights.

With all the fairings off it was easy to give the bike a good detail and look over, fixed a couple of minor issues to do with the fasteners.

Then a short 5k ride to make sure all was good. A longer ride tomorrow & looking forward to it.

Snow you say? I found some eventually Sunday after riding through lots of fog near Garrowby Hill.

I had seen it falling at home when I got home from Sat night out, but it was 3c so I knew it wasn't settling near me.

Beautiful day, it's cooled down, warm but not hot, dry, the roads don't have the debris I expected, Tuesday means less traffic, tourists and day trippers.

14th ride of 2026.
Another 251K's, 156 miles.

The Gen-2 really has grown on me. It was only ever supposed to be a toy that might go to the drags, I knew it wasn't going to be as nice as the Gen-3, but it's a proper low tech basic bike, no more electrics than the GSX1400 other than a mode button no one ever uses, its a little lighter, a little louder, a little faster than the nicer Gen-3, but has a different "feel" to it.

Got heaps of jobs I've been putting off this week, need to spend a day on the tractor, the 4x4 needs to be serviced in the city, fallen trees to log, rubbish bins to take to the dump, a dozen other jobs..... so.....

I sneaked out and got another quick 149K's / 93 miles in ...  :happy1:

Absolutely perfect bike weather.

Those frame beams look massive, so glad they moved to the monocoque styling. 👍

Agree Chris, totally dislike bikes with those external beam, just terrible look. Trellis look not much better but acceptable on some.

You're not looking at them when you're riding it, so I don't mind them.
There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.

You're going to wear that DRZ out Tony.

I think I'm using it more than the others at the moment. It's still a bit of a novelty and I have heaps of roads here still to explore. The higher gearing and being run in now means it's now closer to what I wanted.

The Gen-3 Busa is overdue tyres and a service but that'll get sorted next week. I think that'll be used a lot more then.

Same. Can't say I've ever given it much thought, other than a lot of great bikes use that design, and working on them a lot of stuff is pretty easy. Access to the valves, cams, carbs or injectors etc.  I have 5 with a similar layout.  The RF900 is really nice to work on and has a pretty light frame despite being steel not alloy.  Lift off the tank, lift off the airbox and it's so much nicer to service or work on from above.  Even Kawasaki who have given up on the ZX14 went back to a trellis around the motor frame on their H2's not a monocoque style.
