Looks like she's been done over with rattlecan black & red.  It was B/W.   I get sick to my stomach just looking at the wanton damage to the bike, & it's not even mine!
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

As Col says, she's been rattle canned. She was a B/W K2. I suspect the rattle can black made her slower & that's why they dumped her  :stir:
I think she's been dumped for ages from the rust & stuff in various places.

Good to see no FI light showing  :rofl2:  :stir:

So sad what the scrotes have done though, especially with all the miles you have traveled together  :furious:

Quote from: Hooli on Tuesday, 13 January  2026, 04:11 AMHere ya go chaps, a copy of what I've just posted on FB -

Here's a day I never thought I'd see, 14 has come home again!
She's rather rough and missing a load of parts like both master cylinders and the ECU. I took the bars and bar clamps with me as those were missing when recovered too. But the engine turns over and feels healthy, as does the gearbox. The clocks still work too so I know she'd only done a few hundred miles at most, they've been rough miles though the new rear tyre is destroyed.
She was recovered in Redcar on New year's Day, god knows how she got up there.
Don't expect to see her out soon, but she'll live again as she deserves too.

Cause you lot understand I'll say I powered up the clocks on 14 Mk2 as the loom is damaged on 14, the earth terminal is cut off, as is the wiring to the RH switch gear which isn't there and there's what I think are coil wires hanging under the tank. There's bound to be more damage I've not found as she's rough as arseholes & anyone sensible would scrap her. That's not happening though, but it might have bought forward the planned 250k rebuild to make her tidy again. I've got to resist working on her till the Mk2 is finished, no matter how temping it is. I'd rather fix her up then finish the new one cause she's the right 14 for me.

Heart breaking photo's Hooli.   :cry2:

However, as you said earlier, finish the new one first, so, have something to ride. Then you can give her all, the time needed without distractions, to make her good again.   :clapping:

Uncle-P

Found a nos rear fender, so I'm waiting on that to come in now. It'll start being quite difficult to pick up spares soon I'd say.

I agree. As I said before not being sold in the USA makes a big difference to spares. I've picked up a few bits from Swap Meets that I've squirrelled away. I'm still looking out for bikes to part out but even wrecks aren't in my price range.

Exciting stuff. Gave it a wash and polished the wheels for the first time since they were refurbed. Stared at it under lights for a few minutes.

It'll be tucked away under a cover in the garage for a while now, many months of away work starts Monday. I've got my 990 Adventure in bits on the lift waiting for me to pull my finger out and sort the valve clearances, so that'll take priority when I'm home

Snotbox has randomly been pretending to be flat when I go to start her so today I've cleaned up the solenoid connections & they were manky, plus one was slightly loose. Some other wiring there looked old too so got it's connections cleaned & tightened. I checked the starter end too & those connections were fine. I also cleaned the earth lead where it attaches to the engine block. 5 or 6 test starts all spin over faster than I'm used too so things have improved. I'll see if it's cured it over the next few weeks. Oddly enough the immobiliser worked everytime too, so I might have fixed something I wasn't looking at.
I also got some rear pads to fit in it & like the others that came with the bike they didn't fit. These ones however were exactly the right shape pad, but the little leg on the end that fits the slot in the caliper was about 3mm too long, so Mr Angry Grinder came out to play. They're in now & see ok, the brake is dragging a touch but I'll see if it settles as I've seen that initially before. If not I've kept the old pads so can check the shape I created today.

It had a new battery when I got it & I know it's charging ok, so discounted those things. Typically it'd go clunk, reset the clock etc when you pushed the button but start easy as anything a minute later.

Plus while I was working on Snotbox the insurance rung me about 14. They started to explain I shouldn't have the bike & I'd been given bad advice by them & Co-part, but understood that whatever happens I'm keeping it to fix it. Seems they need to send an engineer out to assess what class of write-off it should be & then decide what I should repay them from the payout. We'll see how reasonable they are when that happens.
I am glad they got things wrong, or I wouldn't have her back.

Typical isn't it. They take your money and mostly, don't have to anything.
However, when they do, they cock it up.

Been having the same clerical problems, sorting out my pension.  :frustrated:

Yeah but I'm glad they cocked it up or I'd never have got her back. For once them being useless has worked in my favour.

The engineer has just been out to assess the remains of my 14, he's a biker too which helps. We've agreed in a convo we didn't have... that it'll be Cat N so I can put it back on the road & he's going to mention what I've already paid in recovery fees etc to get it back. Those cover about what I'd normally have to pay back so he thinks I might not have to pay any more as normally the insurance would be paying those costs.

We'll see but it seems to be working out so far.

Eric GSX1400K3

Good news so far mate. Fingers and toes crossed for you.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.
