Rough running has been cured, cleaned out the entire fuel system and a fresh tank of 98RON. Went for a ride tonight and seems back to normal.  Now just need to monitor fuel burn, should be around 5.4-5.6l/100km, at least that it used to be.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Time passes quickly. Started 8th season since replacing the bushes. Checked them now - not a hint of side-movement.

Went out for a ride on Mothers day with my son on his Benelli Leoncino.  realised we both needed chain lube so stopped at Halfords

Changed a battery. The first Li-ion (lifepo4) battery in my history.
Starts well. Now I'll wait to see how it will last.

You won't be disappointed.  The irony is you have to buy a charger suitable for these, but the battery holds charge so well, you hardly need them

They don't like the cold, I have one on my beemer and it's fine until winter, then it's a bit of a faff.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Changed the spark plugs, a very easy job to do as was the air filter.  The old sparks on inspection were corroded around the nut the socket attaches to , the electrodes on the other hand were all a nice uniformed brown colour so no issues there. Battery will go on charge overnight to give it a top up, fire her up tomorrow, warm up the oil, then drain her and fit new filter and top up with Halfords finest 10w40 semi. The forks on inspection look very pitted so I chose a little spot and used a scotchbrite pad and gently rubbed away and it all came off so it seems they are salvageable with bit of elbow grease, happy days . Last job will be the new chain and sprockets . The calipers I'll do along with the forks.

Lucky you still finding Halfords oil, the motorbike section of my local store is now two helmets and a pack of indicators. Can't find the damn stuff online either.

I also had no luck with Halfords, got excited when I saw what I thought was the oil.
Then I realised it was car grade, shame as it was cheeep !

:computer_type: Halfords,Aylesbury has it on shelf, 2l or 5ltr that's if your close enough. :onya:

Forgot to mention, did the oil and filter today. Have a fumoto quick drain valve fitted , easiest drain I've ever done ,no oil on hands whatsoever. Turn a lever and out it comes. Oil filter was just as easy. :onya:  :onya:

Agree Fumoto, plug not difficult but valve easier. Some say too dangerous, hang too low, ive never had a problem over a decade.

KiwiCol

I'd need 3 for the Rocket, there's 3 drain plugs on this thing.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Never ever heard of that before. Things you learn. My last old Ducati had 3 oil filters.
