Quote from: grog on Wednesday, 12 March  2025, 04:11 PMMicky, how much f10 to a 14 tank full? I had a look 1l to 4000 fuel, thats tiny amount,on special Repco $12,their demos of converting water, sludge etc pretty exact same as Wynns pro range.

I squeeze the bottle so the F10 sits in the bottom around 4mm high ... no exact measurement.. one bottle has lasted me many months feeding two bikes.

I haven't do it yet, but what I'll do to my 14 today is..

Pull that new rear caliper off & rebuild it. It's meant to be rebuilt but it's not right so I'll do myself so it's done properly. Then tank off & check out the teabag etc as it occasionally draws air & pretends to be out of fuel on 1 bar, shake the bike as riding & it picks up again.

Hooli

Well that's 14 sorted again.

The caliper had blocked passages inside. There was dried crusty rust, looks like it was chemically cleaned but not washed out properly so both bleed nipple holes were half blocked & so was the passage between the caliper halves. I poked them out with a tiny allen key & washed them through with carb cleaner (cause I've not got brake cleaner currently). Rebuild it, refitted it & bled it up. It's a proper brake now.

The fuel thing was my fault. Last time I replaced the pipe from the back of the tank to the swirl pot I'd left it slightly long to avoid kinking it, but that meant it was getting trapped & squashed. So I've shortened it & made sure it's not trapped as I put the tank back.

She's all ready for use again. I'd have taken pics of the crud in the caliper but I'd left my phone on charge indoors so you'll have to imagine a dry orange powder solidified into lumps.

Sounds like a weekend well spent Hooli.
The stuff you fix on your bikes amazes me. I can do basic stuff, however what you've just described would be my mechanics job.
Time for a beer for you 🍺

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

Micky, not really sure what you meant but i found 10ml syringe, added some rubber fuel hose, sucks f10 in then 5 for bike, 10 for car. 👍

Dropped mine off in Christchurch for the new owner.  Had a real good trip over the Lewis Pass, no rain so that's a real bonus for there. The bike ran sweet all day & was pretty good to ride for the last time.  The new owner is going to collect it from his mate anywhere from 1 month to 6 months time apparently.

Couple of last pic's & last ones are my proof I delivered it in 1 piece & good nic.

There's plenty of splattered bugs on it Col.  Each time I stopped I had to clean my visor, it was getting dangerous to see through by Reefton.

If I had to pay someone to fix my bike every time I'd be riding something very boring as it'd be all I could afford. Plus the amount of times I've had to redo a garage's work I'd rather do it myself so I can trust it.

Besides lately I seem to prefer fixing them to riding them, maybe that'll change when it warms up a bit. It's satisfying to rip her apart & solve the issues on the old girl.

Notty

New calipers fitted, new Hel braided race lines ( apparently these are different to standard to fit the brembo) , new oil and filter - new chain . All done by my mobile bike mechanic - cost = £100 including oil which I thought was great value  :)

Blimey Notty how long has that been parked? those marks on the discs by the forks from where the pads have rusted onto them are quite impressive.

That's why I changed them - rusted on as bike not moved for 8 weeks - rear same  :bugga:

I took my 14 out for a wee run today, only about 70miles to Squires & back. Confirmed running sweet as a nut again & the brakes are just as they should be. I'd cleaned the teabag when I was in the tank & either that or the squashed pipe has made a difference even with plenty of fuel in the tank, it's a little smoother & noticeably more responsive again.
Oh & noticed she ticked over 182k last weekend while away.
