My tripmeter reset button works sometimes, im guessing dirty contacts. Is there a procedure to be able to get some spray into switch? Will little rubber cover come off and go back on again from outside? Prob read it somewhere but cant find it today. Thanks.

I don't know how to copy and paste a link to the location, but if you type "knackered" into the forum search, the first result is a thread about "Knackered reset button" (in electrics) that may help.

To insert a link to a specific page, just highlight / select the address in your search engine (Google / Edge / Firefox etc) Once highlighted, press CTRL C (that copies it to your 'clipboard') then when you're writing in your post & your cursor is where you want the link press Ctrl V (Paste) & whatever you have copied to your clipboard will appear there.  It can be a link or paragraph etc.

Here's the link you mentioned.

ThankYou gentlemen. Never had clocks apart, love new adventures.

It's fairly simple Grog compared to most modern bikes. The chrome covers come off easily. Then disconnect the clocks from the mount. It's even quite easy splitting the cases. I'm going to have to do it soon I've lost digital info Speedo and fuel tank it's sun faded I think.

Same issue here, seems intermittent. Seems to work if I'm facing north-West towards Japan, standing on one leg and thinking about the Suzuki gods smiling down on my 1402.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

If you're stripping the clocks down, put them back together in a warm dry environment. Otherwise you'll have trapped moisture in there & that can cause the clocks to fog up.

Just an FYI really,  @grog

Today I had delivered a new rear tire for the R3GT, a Cobra Chrome 240/50R-16.  The new tire has a tread depth of 7mm. my current one is sitting at 3mm, 1.5mm above minimum.    (Min wear is 1.5mm depth - so usable tire wear is 5.5mm)
So my bike has covered 10,400k's on the current rear tire using 4mm of tread, so tread wear is about 2,500k's per mm.  So bit of maths: 5.5mm x 2500km / mm = 13.750km or there abouts.

All that means I get about 13,500k's - 13,800k's per rear tire, front is more as it has plenty of meat left at this stage.  That's ok I reckon & with the front lasting longer (I'd say 50% longer than the rear looking at it) - the issue with the older rockets chewing through tires seems to have been fixed on the 2nd gen version.

Thanks Col, thats great distance for big, powerful bike. Around 4x the older model.

Could also be the different tire - I heard the Avon Cobra Chrome was developed specifically to suit, / in conjunction with, the Gen 2 Rockets, so I've heard anyway.

Out of interest had a sqiz,Chrome can be used on some 1st Gen Rockets.

I'm getting 10k miles from Cobra Chromes on the back of my HD, oddly enough I only get 8-9k from the front. Just like my 14 I wear the sides of the front tyre out first, must be my riding style of not slowing down into bends & then trail braking a bit.

grog

My front wears out first. Something thats never happened in earlier years.

Did the gear lever mod with new bushes, amazed at the difference  :onya:

KiwiCol

Well, the front could have been replaced before I got it, thus giving it more tread now.   Could be I suppose.  :whatever:
