My last few were 9 yrs, 13 mths, 13 mths, latest is nearly 4 yrs.I dont reckon any brand is better than any other, just luck. My 4 yr is the lesser model of one that lasted 13 mths🤷🤷

I've always done well with the original OEM factory fitted ones, but as you say I get a very mixed bag with aftermarket.

I'm pretty sure they are like tyres, in that the originals are not the same as aftermarket. This has been proved many times with tyres.  From my experience aftermarket tyres are noticeably better, and quite the opposite with battery's.

Yeah, dunno about the tires being different Tony.

Many moons ago I used to actually make tires & there's absolutely no difference in the construction or materials used to make a certain tire.  The tires shipped out for OE were the ones that required the least balance weight, they were the most uniform in construction.  I can see why they did that, get a good balanced tire & they'll likely buy it again when due for replacement.

Even 'spec' tires are made exactly the same way, using the same materials (otherwise what's the point of a spec tire) only difference is they're made under critical supervision of the QC guys.

Things are different nowadays in the tire building industry, machines make them, but I can't see them using different materials on the same model & size of tire.

100% guaranteed that some are.

When the B-King came out there were a lot of folk who didn't like the tyres. I changed to aftermarket, same make and model, same size, same tread pattern, same name etc etc.

OEM was made in Japan.  Aftermarket USA.
OEM was 3 ply.          Aftermarkt was 4 ply.
OEM wore well but lacked grip,  Aftermarket short life and sticky.

Same with the OEM factory tyres on the H2 HS SE and the Gen-3 Busa. Look similar but a different construction, different layers of ply / Kevlar etc and level of grip.

Those three are just mine but I've seen others side by side too.

Ok, bike tires appear to be different than car / 4wd tires.  Mind you, I'm talking 40 - 45 years ago when I made tires.

It does sound nice, although haven't tried removing the baffles as plod are getting tad keen lately, they are also fixed on the intake of the exhaust if that makes any sense at all :whatever:

KiwiCol

Mine is a straight through setup, there's nothing to remove for me.

I'll pop the baffles out at some point, just to test officer  :smitten:

My Campbells are too loud with the baffles out - my mates aways comment on how good they sound

Cambells do look nice but not cheap for sure  :worshippy:

Once listened to an un baffled, dual campbells 14, 2 each side. From my local garage is a 5 minute climb up the range to 430 metres.I stood and listened, he was making great revs and great noise. Never forgot that day. I do also think single Tri Oval without end baffle sounds perfect😎

Hooli

I'll be the odd one out then, I think campbells sound absolutely awful. Like someone farting in a biscuit tin & the only bikes I've ridden with them run bloody awful too.

In comparison my 1400 ran bloody awful at low lows until I did the pairs delete, game changer that mod :smitten:

When I got my current 14 it had straight-through original twins. Was completely gutted by previous owner. Now, that was a sound maschine.

First thing I bought for the lady where new tires as the "almost new" tires where flat-tops. Second were unmolested original cans.

While I can appreciate a good sound, I don't want stress with cops or molest other people with too many decibels. Too many riding restrictions, particularly on weekends/holidays already. Most of them due to the noise complaints.
