It'll take me longer to get to my target of 250k now, as the HD has become my main touring bike. 14 is still getting out & about though.

Must be something about them Hooli. Most poular bike around here. Most of their riders attitudes really put me off them unfortunately. After 12 yrs with 14, i often think id like another challenge, diff bike that is. No idea what id like.

Hooli

It's comfy, relaxing as I don't feel the need to rush when I don't want too on it. Plus it's new so I can trust it to do long trips with little prep. I'll still take the 14 on some trips, but the next one is 3 weeks long so the extra 1k miles between services is a bonus too.

I still have the same attitude towards most HD owners I see as I did before I got it. I'll never get the 'I ride an HD so I'm more of a biker' thing.

Hey Grog, if you a lot of spare cash to throw away on maintenance and like wearing Belstaff riding gear, I highly recommend a BMW.
May the sun be warm & shining and your roads be smooth & winding.

either a K or S series BMW, lots of fun. My K bike has seen 99600km and still looks new. If you're handy with spanners its not that hard, the issue is the cost of parts.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I test rode S1000XR and F900. 1000 would kill my licence, amazing bike. F900 is a great ride, could suit me fine, just expensive, 20g with a can, i like noise. Very diff i know but i like new GSX 8, sort of a bit lighter than 14, any advantage over 14, for the extra bucks, not sure. Only want one bike, 14 is sorted, selling would destroy me, huge decision.

GSXKING

My GSX 2001 has 149,000+ kms
My BMW R1200RT 2014 has 162,000+ kms
I've owned a myriad of other motorcycles in that time also.
My friend says I have no emotional attachment to motorcycles and I guess that's true to an extent.
However 22 years of ownership is because I firmly believe this is the best allrounder I've ever had the privilege of owning 🏆

I've got 20k miles on the HD now, only got it March '22 so I must be enjoying it.

@grog and I'd love a Guzzi but despite that I will not sell my 1400 it's just such a good bike.

Also I will NOT be changing us to gsx1400plusafewtriumphandbmwowners.org    :rofl3:

I would agree, can hardly use what I have now, he clearly enjoyed riding it though and couldn't think what to replace it with, he'd tried the Kwak h2 thing but didn't like all the modes. Shows the engine is strong though.

I see this on other forums where the lads fit blowers and big bore kits to their big engined bikes, I think to my self where are you gona use all that power on a public road ????  I just like standard big engines (as they are more reliable) and spend my money on how the bike looks.  ;)

VladTepes

Hmm, I have a turbo sitting here but by the time I price up all the bits and pieces and work it'd cost me too much so it's not fitted. :(
