Story in our local paper about a guy who bought a 4yr old E class hybrid Merc for £27k 4yrs ago
He's just been told battery's kaput.
Merc quoted £15k +fitting.
More than the car is worth!!!
Started out with nothing, still got most of it left.

Hybrids don't seem to make a lot of sense. Why create a vehicle that has two major areas that can go wrong?

Buy a 2022 vehicle with all the electronic bits and gadgetry - what could go wrong in ten years time?

I think that's why we love our 1400s.

Be interesting to find out what the cost of battery replacement will be on electric bikes ..  in future years, if any one ends up looking at buying an electric vehicle, you will need to know how much life is left in the battery.. like what is recorded on the iPhone..  then factor in how long you think you might keep the vehicle..  might not be worth buying, or need to factor in replacement cost.

But then, as I mentioned to a mate last night, talking modern bikes.  No such thing as normal dare I say "Old School" gauges any more.  They are all using mini ipad style screens.  Considering that some bikes have headlights that would cost well over 1k for replacement (new), I would be interested to see how much one of the new style electronic dashboards would cost to replace, should something go wrong..  in years to come, I think the same situation..  cost more to replace a part than what the bike is really worth.  no wonder bikes get written off after a simple fall off the side stand these days..

All these E vehicles are a con  :whatever:
No emissions my arse  :jack: if you charge it using mainstream power those are emissions
To make these ridiculously expensive to replace batteries there is toxic forever emissions it's all a bloody con job.
Unfortunately lots of rich people are getting richer from the lies 🧐

I couldn't agree more, Chris, just a con.  The other one, I find hypocritical is that Tesla is saying their e vehicles are saving the environment, whilst at the same time they are sending all these satelittes into low orbit for their Sky mesh internet, just adding more and more junk into the near earth space, not to mention  the pollution from every launch.  Saving the environment my ass.

The animated film WALLE is a "futurementary" of where we are going if we don't do something about these "green companies"
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Not a battery vehicle fan at all but a test drive in Tesla is awesome. So bloody quick. Will look up comparison times to 14. Off topic but similar, Tesla house batt is $17k, life expectancy 10-12 yrs, disposal fee around $6k. I average around $600 per yr electricity bill, 12 yrs at $7200. Why bother.

Kiwifruit

Some Teslas with issues, mechanical or collision are sent to Australia for repair. Probably on an electric boat  ???
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Col, most Tesla parts are unique to them. They wont supply parts, needs to go to dealer, even if its just a globe. Robbers.

I don't understand the point of hybrids or leccy cars. Even if climate change was real, using their own CO2 lies proves that proper engines are better.

That's before start on the strip mining etc etc

I've said it before..Hybrid/electric cars will NOT save the planet. I for one would never consider buying one.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Yep , take the V8 out of my dead cold hands, no sound from forward propulsion is just not natural!

Aye, it's taken me decades to own a supercharged V8, I'm never letting it go.
