My view is "horses for courses". No pun intended.

I've just taken delivery of a turbo diesel vehicle which I will use for long distance outback touring. Range is over 1000kms per tank.

My brother lives 11km outside of a large rural Australian city. He has a Landrover and a Tesla long range model. His 18 solar panels and Tesla Powerwall provide the majority of his power needs while he is still connected to the grid.

His Tesla is given priority charge from his solar system. It's a smart setup and it is no coincidence he's a retired electrical engineer.

I've driven the Tesla in a built up area and the performance is amazing. If you like the torque of the 1400 then The Tesla has it in spades but without a whisper of sound or soul.

It felt like driving a computer on wheels with silent rocket like performance.

An amazing performance machine but if you grew up with V8s and smoking tyres there's no character or personality to relate to.

The large majority of Teslas are charged by baseload power. Mostly coal fired in this country.

However the economic reality is that this will change in the future, probably not completely for a significant period of time given the availability of high quality coal.

Where ever you sit on this issue, sit back, observe and FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Whether you are a climate sceptic or not the reality is that the big investors are moving away from coal fired power in Australia and are looking at the financial opportunities in renewables.

My two bobs worth. Here's your opportunity to fire back.

Read a story recently about a fella that parked his diesel ute in a charging bay. Plugged in to the station and chucked the other end under his bonnet.
Parking spaces are not easy to find  :rofl2:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I read an article a while back indicating that there are fields of E cars in France that will not be repaired - replacement batteries cost more that the cars are worth!
E-Car is a feel good vehicle that eventually dies and then cause more angst for the greenies regardless of the footprint to make them!
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

Computers, iPads, smart phones, vehicles, tyres all create a massive volume of waste and EVs will add to all this problem unless there is a reclaim and recycle operation.

Who will want a 10 year old second hand EV with outdated electronics?

We risk drowning out n our own prosperity.

I saw the picures of this as well, but it seems that they were not there due to faulty batteries. That's a shame in a way as it was good ammunition to use in the argument against electric cars.
