Heading South

On the ferry heading to the South Island for a couple of weeks. The wet weather gear got a workout yesterday heading from home down to the ferry in Wellington. Works well 👍
Good crossing, 15 mins will be in Picton. Only six bikes on the ferry.

Unfortunately I am used to getting plugs put in new tyres. When I gassed up last night there was a couple on a new Honda CB 1000 the rear Dunlop had delaminated. Said they had stopped to take a photo and his missus heard hissing, he checked it and found a big bubble. I pushed it, was thin on the tread and firm at the carcass. The bike had done less than 3k.

I had a PR4GT delaminate with about 1k miles on it. Makes them very odd to ride on when you start to lean right & the medium strip of rubber has no support so it's like a flat tyre, until you lean far enough to get on the soft bit of course. It exploded later in the day up an Italian motorway, I'm glad it didn't go earlier on Alpine passes as I hadn't worked out what was wrong.
