After fitting up a set of these the weekend before last, I have had a good chance to test them out and I must say that other than being a prick to fit, I am very impressed with them. I live on a Mountain road and all Tyres before these always feel a little tippy toey until they warm up, but these Road 5,s feel good right out of the driveway even on a cold and damp road, this morning I was hooking into it, cold only, no damp less than 1 km  from my gate as a young buck on a Multistrada came flying up my arse, and there was no movement at all from them and he only caught up on the straight. I ordered a 190 55 rear and the speedo is now only 2 k out at 100, so that was a bonus as well

Phew that's a relief. In my thread about it (if you remember) my mechanics tsk tsk me on the choice but I'm a fan now. After being assured by you guys I feel pretty confident too although I'm no where needed the skill level to push them it's good to know they'll hang in there with me. I got the Power 5 though. I wonder what the difference is? I hope mine's softer and grippier. Not concerned about mileage so much as safety being a returning rider.

Mine's the 190/50 how out would my speedo be ya reckon?

Impressed that you fitted them yourself  :notworthy:

my speedo was out about 7 k at 100, as now, reading more than actual, as for fitting them myself, I wouldn`t recommend it , as unlike slicks which can be done mostly by hand and rubber mallet, these were a prick and I won`t bother doing it again unless in an emergency

Wow, so at 100 on my speedo I'm actually doing 107? or 93? Because when I'm sitting on 100 a lot of people creep up on me and I do get the feeling I'm doing under 100.

steve porter

actual 93/4 according to my GPS, so I sat on the freeway with 110 on the speedo and GPS said 102/103

If you're on stock tyres and sprockets, the speedo will over read. From memory, mine reads around 60mph when doing 55 (from GPS).

Ok that's cool then. I can "speed" without speeding. Not only does the buffeting I get at 100 make me feel like I'm doing 140 but I can actually feel cheeky and get away with it. Now that's eating your cake and having it too.

Could this bike get any better? It's like the Magic Pudding of bikes.

Back to sanding...

The Dunlop's that were on it never felt right in the morning when cold, but good as gold wet or dry on the way home, whereas these feel very consistent and confidence inspiring comparatively

I change all my own tyres (which I find very easy to do) and have a similar set up to you but what does the tie down strap around the tyre do, never seen that before?
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Local bike shop mate was telling me about Road 5, he has a customer with R1250 BMW, commutes to Brisbane, 80k each way, At 40 th k service they were ready to replace b4 next service. Thats the best ive heard from a large bike.

When it won't seat and is just pissing out air you pull it in with the ratchet strap, works every time

Maybe I'm going soft in my old age as I struggled to get the old ones off more than getting the new ones on, don't remember ever having that much trouble before
