There's a switched orange wire near the fusebox, I'd suspect it's in the headlight too as I think it comes off the ignition switch.

In fact there would be a switched live feed to the dipped/main switch, I don't know what colour it'd be though.

I don't think the convict spec bikes have a front sidelight, I don't know if they get the wiring anyway.
"Convict spec" i love it.  The wiring is there but no globe in the headlamp unit, at least there wasn't in mine.  Now with the LED headlight, i plugged that sidelight wire into the back of the main lamp connector, so my low and drl are on. Drl switches off when high beam is on. I can swap the connector around to the other wire at the back of the plug and have drl on with high beam , but as most of the riding time is with low beam on, i chose to have drl on with that.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Is there a means to wire it up whereby DRL would be on for both low and high beam?
If not, then low beam would be my preference as that'd be riding around town.
@Eric GSX1400K3  do you know what the relevant wire colours are?

Oh yeah, I forgot Vlad is from down under with dodgy heritage 😂

Oi!  Who you calling dodgy.

I'll have you know my heritage is English and German!  (if you go back far enough)

Not so much fun during WW1 when my great grandparents were interned for the duration of the war in case they might be German spies.

In WW2 many of my rellies on that side fought - as Australians of course.
The other side of the family too.

P.S. Yeah I know you were joking :)  :P

Vlad, not Yankee sidekicks or 2nd class Poms, We are Australians and thats where were from. 👍 Inside headlight shell, taped next to headlight connecter. Black plug, brown wire is positive, black is negative. Always powered high n low beam. Run your wires out thru back of shell, will be good for DRL. Already fused from factory. Hope this helps.

Yeah, us convicts need to see where were running to  when the coppers are chasing us for stealing their bread

Yet you don't get the bulb holder to put a front sidelight bulb in.

VladTepes

Coz of our laws that headlights have to be permanently on.

The headlight on ADR was rescinded some years ago, it is not a legal requirement for headlights to be hardwired I have rewired mine into a switch and have had several run ins with the boys in blue bottom line is technically if they are smart enough they can get you for modification, but not having the headlight hardwired does not contravene Australian law

Given the level of expertise of the average tin-top drivers in this vast sunburnt country,  id prefer to be seen and heard when on my bike.

Headlight permanently on when ignition on and louder exhaust is the g-o.

Horse

After commuting for quite some years with headlights on and off I am not sure it makes a lot of difference they have to LOOK to see you, headlight or no headlight, most of the issue to me is they just DONT look, statistics in the past did not reveal a marked decrease in the accident rate with the "headlight on law"  that's why it was repealed,
I don't ride with it on and assume they haven't seen me , the bonus with that is if they haven't seen you they don't make a stupid unpredictable move " to help you" anyway each to their own, your risk , your consequence. Whatever suits based on the evidence / facts you have,

Have a good weekend,

Horse, youre correct about not having to have headlight on. I always assumed you did. Taught me something 👍Never really looked into it b4. My choice is light on but thats just me.
