If they catch the scrotes, they'll probably get six months in the Bahamas for it.

Amazing Hooli. That bike sure has some stories to tell.

I think the perfect private plate for Hooli's 14 is "BDPNNY" 'cause it just keeps turning up...
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

That's good news Hooli, or is it, as you have already replaced it?
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Do you get salvage rights ?
Good luck restoring her, don't let it become a money pit though. You have a replacement now anyway.

She was stolen on the 22nd April & according to the pics that are time & location stamped, recovered new year's day in Redcar (about 95miles north of me).

I've spoken to the salvage disposal place & the insurance, between them they've agreed I can buy her back. Then the salvage yard said as far as they are concerned I can just go get her as they've got her recorded as still mine, meaning the insurance have never done the paperwork properly.

So I'll go get her to avoid any more storage charges & then they can argue it out between themselves, but she won't be leaving me again.

As for a replacement, having never ridden the new one it doesn't feel like mine yet. But I'll finish that first so I've got one to ride & then look at this properly. My suspicion is I could cobble her up for quite a cheap price, but I might go the whole hog on her. We'll see, whatever happens this one is staying for good.

I also reckon a full resto is what she deserves, and she has a number of great stories to tell...

My biggest concern is that the clocks still work so she's not lost her silly miles being recorded.

grog

Would be a shame to lose that odometer. You need now to choose, how many projects as against how many really good rideables. Been there, tough decision. I chose good rideables, just easier.

Hooli

Yeah, I'd always said if this one died of old age I'd keep her in the corner for the sentimental value though. So once she's back, she's staying & I'll decide on whatever else happens as I go.

Hooli

I realised the other day that I'd never had a roadtax (yeah it's not really called that) refund for her. It should have happened when the insurance company took ownership, as it's automatic with a change of keeper.

Well out of interest this morning, I tried marking her SORN. Which means no tax due as she's not on the road & the DVLA accepted it with the V5c I've still got for her, that means she's still been in my name all this time. So if the insurance don't own her as they've not done the paperwork that increases my chances of not having to pay them anything back...

More importantly, that's why I got notified she'd been found. Else I'd never have known.

Here ya go chaps, a copy of what I've just posted on FB -

Here's a day I never thought I'd see, 14 has come home again!
She's rather rough and missing a load of parts like both master cylinders and the ECU. I took the bars and bar clamps with me as those were missing when recovered too. But the engine turns over and feels healthy, as does the gearbox. The clocks still work too so I know she'd only done a few hundred miles at most, they've been rough miles though the new rear tyre is destroyed.
She was recovered in Redcar on New year's Day, god knows how she got up there.
Don't expect to see her out soon, but she'll live again as she deserves too.

Cause you lot understand I'll say I powered up the clocks on 14 Mk2 as the loom is damaged on 14, the earth terminal is cut off, as is the wiring to the RH switch gear which isn't there and there's what I think are coil wires hanging under the tank. There's bound to be more damage I've not found as she's rough as arseholes & anyone sensible would scrap her. That's not happening though, but it might have bought forward the planned 250k rebuild to make her tidy again. I've got to resist working on her till the Mk2 is finished, no matter how temping it is. I'd rather fix her up then finish the new one cause she's the right 14 for me.

From memory, no more than 3-400. She was clear of 183k when she was taken. The clocks were still connected when I got her back, so that should be accurate.

Are the red wheels what was on her when you had it? I always thought you had white wheels as std ?
