I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Sure is, you just need another website where you can actually search for the part number first.

MAP sensor arrived today. The actual sensor is about the size of a golf ball. It arrived in a shoebox sized package.

Shipping time from Japan not too bad then. No time to fit tonight, will get it done tomorrow.  Fingers and toes crossed.

Haven't been around for a while, life takes over sometimes!

Not today but Saturday was MOT time again, clean sheet again, mind you the old girl is still being pampered and needing it more than ever at the age of 24. MOT done at a small local garage as ever, they give it a good going over, always offered a brew and they are not interested in finding work, just glad of the return business I think

As she was good I treated her to a full English breakfast, a hundred or so miles and several cups of tea and cake throughout the day wandering the roads of North Wales. One of the local independent bike shops has just taken on the BSA dealership and had an open day, have to say that they don't look bad, may take one for a test ride in the next few weeks & it was great to see the local bike fraternity supporting a newly established business, by two lads who took on one of the collapsed Completely Motorcycle shops

I must admit I love my 14, I don't think I could find a bike that suits me better TBH and she's running sweet at the moment

I prodded tracking websites & said 'hurry up' for my bits to arrive..

I might wash the tractor today as it's covered in bugs & it's a sunny day.

Ran well when I disconnected map two weeks ago, albeit with an FI code. Plugged new map in today, double checked all vac lines and connections, even the pairs valves which i still have the original covers on, sealed with rubber tube folded and zip tied.

Ran no different than before, disconnected iap and it stalled. Disconnected new map and plugged iap in and it still misfires, FI code of course.

Is there a way to check what the hall effect crank sensor picks up as the engine runs? I'm back to thinking its the crank sensor as its magnet is broken, but superglued together and you cannot tell where the split line is.

I will also remove the cam cover and check that the pick up pin that triggers the cam sensor is not missing.

Bilbo's journey continues, tempted to toss it into Mt Doom soon though...

Yes, there is. Need an oscilloscope. Just an example: https://automotiveamerican.com/2024/10/03/testing-a-crank-position-sensor-with-the-hantek-1008c/

I am pretty certain that the magnetic field is disturbed in your case. Not sure but it may be the issue. Either check it or a part swap.

Bloody hell! Feel for you Eric, your bike is doing its best not to get better.

Keep going, you will figure it out  :onya:
There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.

She has covered about 31,000 miles. Sadly not I bought this one in 2018 when I got made redundant from the main job of my working life, she is the sixth I have owned though. The list is below, my biggest regret not being in a position to buy a new one, which I would have undoubtedly kept.

I have tried and owned several other bikes over the years but nothing matches the 14 for me, maybe one day I will find a good as new final or special edition, until then I have decided that this winters second bike will be another 14 & I will strip and refurb next summer, if I can find something half decent at sensible money (They don't seem to come for sale on here much lately)

Will's list of 14's

1. 2002 K2 B&W (Purchased in 2005)
2. 2003 K3 B&W (Only stayed with me for a week, found damage to the frame & the dealer agreed to take it back & swapped it for the next one)
3. 2002 K2 B&W
4. 2003 K3 B&W
5. 2005 K5 Black
6. 2001 K2 B&W (Current bike & life partner)

That's awesome that you've owned so many, that may be a record.

Mine is a short GSX1400 list.
2001 plated purchased 10/10/2001 so 24 years of ownership next month. Roughly 180,000 kms travelled (Speedo stopped at 172,000).

I have had a plethora of other bikes in that time from Aprilias to HD and a few other Suzukis. Bought my first BMW R1200RT in 2007, now on a 2015 RT with 200,000 kms of untroubled travel. My wife prefers it to the GSX.
