Success!

I went out looking for a M8x1.25 bleed nipple today as the epoxy didn't work. I managed to locate three in four different spares shops & people wonder why everyone shops online... They all had a different taper on the end so I got the lot. Comparing them to the drill I'd used the other day I picked the one with nearest taper to match the shape of the end of the drill then used the closest one.

It needs nipping up harder than it should to seal but it works & there's no seepage when holding pressure on the lever. So it's a success. I'll try to remember to pick up a spare caliper at some point though, rebuild it & put it on the shelf for when I need it one day.

Test run out for a damn good steak pie & then to Squires today, no leaks & all working. I'll call that sorted then.

I'll leave you a game of 'spot the 14'.

Yes, those are blue skies. Was about 10-11c today, which is nice & warm for this time of year.

😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

No 1400 action this weekend but I'm making do prepping my 701 for an adv trip happening soon. Fitted and balanced tyres with new tubes and checked pivot point bearings for any play etc.

Should just be a basic service and hit the road from here. That's one of the benefits of being over the top with maintenance like I am. Mates are rushing around sourcing parts and I'm ready to roll at the drop of a hat

Pretty much same for me with maintenance all my life, cars, bikes, house whatever. Does get harder the older you get👎Lucky now as two easy cars and 14 which is easy.

lurch

A previous life as somewhat of an athlete (basketball) and plenty of enduro incident means my knees aren't what they should be. After I fitted the tyres I was saying to a mate that I need to investigate some sort of tyre fitting helper - he agreed and within 10 minutes he'd bought a Rabaconda street bike tyre changer for himself.

To be fair I used to do most of the maintenance for a few of the lads and they're still coming to terms with me drastically reducing that. After prepping 5 of the 6 bikes we crossed the Simpson Desert with last time and then seeing them rapidly go back to their old ways on our return I decided enough was enough.

Very similar for me. Used to fix, tune, service Mates bikes at Mates rates. I got sick of them, more i did, more they expected with basic thanks. Stuck to my own then on.

Couldn't leave it alone after all. Just a wash and check over after. I promise it was filthy Hooli.

Cleaned it, should really add new powdercoated wheels fitted, new venhill brake lines all round, discs repainted and crash bars fitted.

Phil P I like everything about your GSX (clears throat) except those fugly as f..k crash bars.
It's your bike I know but they destroy the flow of everything from the belly pan up imho. 🙄

I have to agree, but if it works for him that's all that matters as you say.

Mine had a chrome set on it when I bought it. Removed the moment it rolled into my shed and it took a lot of restraint to not toss them. The previous owner was flabbergasted . Actually I sent him a photo of it the other day and he said he preferred it the way he had it (including red wheels) but that it was still a great looking bike.

Mine has bars, my choice. Givi are the only ones i like. Painted hammerite grey, look fine to me. Phil, your choice, your bike👍
