Very nice, she's gonna ride like new again with these new bits fitted.    Hmmm, just a thought, how about doing the tires before fitting the new rotors? No way for them to warp them if the old ones are still on there.  Or you could take the stripped down wheel to be fitted.

Like a newie Col👍Pretty sim price to here, can buy tyres fitted just a bit less.

Kiwifruit

Won't ever again take wheels to have tyres fitted with the discs attached.
An expensive lesson to learn.
Looking forward to nice smooth brakes again.

Sorry to sound like a certain P. Hanson but Please explain? How did discs get warped from fitting new tyres?
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

KiwiCol

The disc can get warped / bent by using a car tire bead breaker.  If not placed correctly the disc can take the downward pressure of the bead breaking action, because the tire is laying flat, this pressure is sideways on the disc.  The aluminium bends a bit & hey presto, warped discs.
Remedy, remove the discs off the front wheel prior to bead breaking, (or use a different method of bead breaking) my rear doesn't have the disc attached to the rim, so it's more like a car / trailer wheel & no problem.

Yes, expensive lesson, but 1 ya remember.  Surprised that shops do it too.

Sounds like they weren't a very, professional bunch.  :confused1:

Had loads of tyres done without a problem.  :clapping:

Yes me too Mr Gee. When I picked up the wheels after having the tyres fitted the guy said he had to use a lot of weight to balance the wheel. I asked if they had tried rotating the tyre on the rim. He said they had, at the same time telling me our rims are soft. So away I went. Put the wheels back in the bike and the lever is pulsing. Went to another shop to price up some new discs. Told him they were warped and said I'd just had new tyre fitted, he immediately said they've bent the disc when breaking the bead. Told me to get a dial gauge and a big Crescent and tweak the disc. This I did and got it pretty good but after a while it reverted back and I'm unhappy riding the bike like that.
Now I have new discs and pads, new tyres will turn up any day. Ive done the fork seals but not the bushes in the forks. They need doing too as one side of them is very worn. Now have to order those.....I suppose it's only money but it's starting to mount up !!

Hooli

You'll need fork seals again to do those bushes, if you hadn't already realised. I've never known an oil seal go back in & not leak anywhere.

mate has a tyre changing machine, it has the grab arm / bead breaker off on one side, no chance of bending discs. He's done my bmw wheels no issue

Rabaconda tire change machine would be the mutts, but I'm not going to get the use out of one to justify the cost, be ok if I was 25 or something & had years of riding ahead me, but then at 25 I wouldn't of been able to afford one.

Tally

Back in February I ordered some crows feet ratchet spanners off the internet, due for delivery on 17th Feb , never arrived. Temu gave me £4 credit. Ok I said I'll wait a little longer . 2nd march no goods so requested a refund to which they said yes , and as a bonus they said if the goods eventually turn up I can keep them. Oh yeah on the tracking app they are somewhere between Germany and the U.K.
