Blime don't you sleep ?

Nice steady camera work from your drone.

What a wonderful building / factory / agricultural machine !

A few drone elated questions.

What was the distance from where you were controlling it (presumably near where the flight video started) to the mill?

The 'orbit' around the mill - is that a feature that can be used or did you have to manually fly it around the mill, adjusting the camera,  Seems awfully smooth is all.

Is that a Mavic Pro drone? (I think you said that before). What price are those over there, because here they START at around AUD$1200 (GBP 672) online ($1500 for official DJI store) and $1700+ (GBP 952) for the full kit with extra bits and pieces.

Oh and you need an ipad on top of all that too apparently.

I'd be interested to know how your prices compare.

I'd love one but can neither afford it, nor have the time for more hobbies.... :)

Our drone laws here are, I believe, substantially more restrictive than in the UK - but I could be wrong.
Certainly the opportunity to use them in / around suburbia is almost nil. Somewhere rural like you have in this vid would be OK but a lot of people hate them being flown over their private land - and I can well understand why (incidents of greenies using footage to attack farmers, or poachers looking for deer on people's private land etc).

I have to get a drone!
Nice steady footage !!
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

Nice footage Proteous.
More questions from me, well the wife actually. She would like to know how old the mill is and was there a village there at some point. The mill is in the middle of nowhere ?

In NZ we dont have too many drone laws yet.......but they are coming.
Have had commercial airliners diverted because of them flying too close.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I was actually at the foot of the mill itself. The drone has a 7.5km range so it goes anywhere. That flight was completely manualy controled no autonamous flight modes used at all.. The drone does have flight modes but none that would give you what i have created here.

It is indeed the Mavic Pro there has just been a UK price drop that has upset me greatly.. I paid £1150 for the drone with all the extra stuff like spare batteries and such.. You can now get the same deal for around £900ish.

The windmill is one of Warwickshire's most famous landmarks. It stands on a hilltop overlooking the village of Chesterton, near the Roman Fosse Way and about five miles (8 km) south-east of Warwick. It was built around 1632-1633, probably by Sir Edward Peyto, who was Lord of the Chesterton Manor House. At this time John Stone, a pupil of Inigo Jones, was in Chesterton designing the new Manor House and he probably helped with the windmill as well. Sir Edward was a mathematician and astrologer and probably his own architect to the windmill, but although claims have been made that the tower was originally built as an observatory, the estate accounts now at Warwick Record Office show that it has always been a windmill,[2] making it the earliest tower mill in England to retain any of its working parts.

Its a lovely spot, there is always someone there just ... sitting.. contemplating life i guess.. there is most deffinitely an atmosphere there.

Sounds like you've had plenty of piloting practice then...

A bloke here got in huge trouble because he sent a drone down to grab a sambo from the local sausage sizzle.  I call that innovation.  Government lacks a sense of humour.

Could the drone have the lifting capacity for some beer?
Now that would be useful..

Phone/tablet/ipad plugged into the remote shows live video as you fly.

@Proteous I mean what do YOU use?

I'm keen on the idea of getting a tablet (and appropriate mount of course) but...

A bloke on a forum said he runs an ipad mini in a mav mount, I'd like something a tad bigger, but my main problem is that it has to be compatible with the Go 4 app, have a decent processor and (here's the rub) be inexpensive.

I think a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 would be good enough but that's not as inexpensive as I'd like.

I have a Lenovo laptop and like it a lot but have heard of the lenovo tab being problematic with the DJI app... not sure which particular model Lenovo or Android version that was though...

While DJI have a list of supported phones on their site there is no such list for tablets.

I have tried many Android tablets (by many i mean 4) and all of them proved to be shite. One was Lenovo one was Samsung one was a Huawai Mediatab and the last was an acer. I hated all of them. Video lag was an issue on all 4 a couple of them were just shite in the sunlight while 2 were excelent in that regard. ( all this time i have been using my phone a HTC U11 which is fantastic.) I really need a bigger screen than my phone though.. So i borrowed a friends Ipad and it was perfect as far as video goes. just as good as my phone and just as responsive. Downside was that while not as bad as some of the other tabs, the daytime viewing wasnt great but a shrowd soon fixed that... So long story short i am currently just about to do something i said i never would and i am buying an Ipad 9.7 2018 gen 6 i believe. £320 new. More money than i ever wanted to spend on a tablet but since i cant find an android one that suits i am just taking the hit and getting the ipad...

I have a tablet mount that slides into the remote and it sits above the remote. I should have it by the weekend.
