Seeing as we are talking horns......
Yesterday I'm in my van and coming out of a service lane. I need to cross two lanes of stationary traffic to get into the third lane from which I can turn right at the lights. The lights are red. In front of me is a gap just wide enough for me to get through and out to the far lane. So I move forward.
Well....... this old Doris in a car with four rings on the name plate, LED DRL's and a horn is having some sort of apoplectic fit behind the steering wheel.
I look to my left in time to see the lights change to green. Still with ten cars to move before she can I decide to stop, wind down my window and politely ask "Is the something you'd like to say sweetheart ?"
Apparently not.....but her arms are now flailing around above the steering wheel.
I slowly move forward and into the third lane, the car in front of her has still not moved.......
We share the roads with drivers like that. If she had been on her cell phone she would never have known.
Probably late for her next Botox treatment..... Impatient cow !!
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Finally got around to honking my horn to see if the LED's go out..
They do NOT !!
My LED's stay lit regardless of the Horn operation.

Hi Notty,

I earthed the horn through the mounting bracket as you have done..
But I used a volt meter independently to make sure i got the Positive connector to the horn..
On my particular bike, if I remember correctly the positives were nearest the frame (inboard).

Speedy , do i just solder those tiny wires to double spade connector and earth to eyelet. they seem so fragile, the wires. heat shrink?

Kiwifruit

Looks like i used the wrong wire. Thought it had a blue trace. Thinking the earth was the other one.......     :bugga:

Hi Notty..
I will be honest I was semi lazy..
I say semi because I did "tin" the wires that come from the LED with solder to beef them up a bit.

I then trapped the earth wire from the LED under the mounting bracket and tightened it firmly..
The positive from the LED I threaded through the original spade on the horn and then pushed firmly the spade connector from the horn over it..
The fact that its tinned with lead solder and the tightness of the fit of the spade connector means there are no issues with a bad connection.

The plus side is that the LED's can be removed very easily if needed and leave no trace of having been fitted.
If I ever go down the LED H4 headlight bulb then by all accounts they are exceptionally bright and attract the attention of even the most dim witted car driver !

mlivkovich

Just finished putting it on bike. Took pics on sunny day. They are bright!  :boogie:
Wired in front position light so leds are on only when lights are on.
