You won't go wrong with those, and they'll do the whole trip.

double post, sorry. why are you guys changing to 55 profile? i like stability, raising arse end should be quicker steer but less straight line stability. not sure i understand why.

Grog Im changing mine to 55 just because Im curious. Like I said before, I mainly do just weekend twisties with the odd long tour here and there. Im thinking it would likely suit my style.

Even if it doesn't its still an angel gt so you cant really go wrong.

I would be intersted to hear if anyone else has gone from the 50 angel gt to the 55 angel gt and their thoughts.

grog

go for it mate. lets know your findings. angels turn in very nicely, if they made a 45 for rear, id have one. old farts love stability. i leave the twisty bits to you young blokes. not really, i love corners, old habits die hard.

There was some discussion on this in another thread mate, though I can't seem to find it just now...

I think the over-all consensus was that the tip-in is considerably better with little effect on straight line stability.

But as for "Why" and answer really is "Because you can".  It's an easy experiment and it if doesn't work out can be remedied at next tyre change.

Rogues

Will bite the bullet and go Angels next time round............ only getting 8-9k out of PR4's so all this guff about supa-dupa longevity is bullshit as far as I'm concerned..... unless you are a highway hellion....... my work is 80% in the twisties.
.......................... and I cant be bothered with 55's, the bitch tips in just fine, and I aint giving the insurance companies any extra reason to NOT pay me out..... if she gets thrown into the bushes.

grog

be surprised Rogues, i was. let me know if you think its bullshit. they hang on , they last, im no highway whatever you said. just great tyres. enjoy them, i do.

Rogues don't expect fantastic wear out of them running up and down the Oxley. I'm on my second set of GT had ST before that, sides are always gone before the centre. But three sets says I'm happy with them. Have PR's on the FJR will be changed to GT.

I've had PR4GTS fitted, scrubbing them in today, I run a 180 rear, have done for the last three sets of boots.
Turn in is easier.

SheepDog

Running Michelin Pilot Road 4 tires front and back (180 at 55 on the rear) and they are great.

It is a personal thing and the 180 works for me ( had that size on my tiger ) and Yamaha still recommend them for the FJR1300 (heavier bike).

Will let you know how they last but I'll be lucky to do 10,000 k's a year as not much time for riding, BUT handling right now I find sweet and confident.

daveh

The feeling of fresh tyres is wonderful.
My oldies were badly worn and cornering was
becoming an effort.
Today was great, daughter on the back and
a cruise around the countryside with some
mates.
It's what it's all about.

GT wear. I had just finished a 800k trip with pillion down the coast all straight road when this was taken.

grog

Irish, how many ks had they done? very bad wear. disappointing for me, i often reco them and have had nothing  llke that happen. best tyres ive had but if that happened , gone from my list.

grog

sorry, double post. iriish, what pressure you running? how much weight on rear end, pillion , luggage.

Grog
I run high pressure because I have cracked a couple of rims. I am still with GT's but as I commented on earlier they scrub out on the sides pending on your type of riding but they have good wear in middle.

Blubber

I am thinking your shocks are on their way out / have a bad settings.

Please check them.
