Just a footnote @Milts . If and when you decide to do your calipers, crack the tension of the mounting bolts , the caliper bolts themselves and the banjo bolt whilst they are still on the bike it makes life easier when you come to take them apart . Oh! and don't forget the bleed nipple.
One of the best tips, makes it so easy, your not wrestling crocodiles on the workbench then.  Just crack them, don't remove or they'll leak brake fluid all over the wheels.

Another top tip is I removed the brake  line splitter from under the headlight ( I still run a 1 to 2 brake line set up) and then removed the banjo bolts from the calipers.  Wrap the ends in a plastic bag (careful not to drip fluid on the front fender) and tie the ends up higher than the resevoir. This avoids having to drain the whole circuit and will save a bit of time bleeding the calipers. I will allow the calipers to fill under gravity, or even use a syringe to draw fluid from the master, then bleed through new fluid.

Bought a little sintered bronze lp fuel filter to put into the lp line from tank to pump. Originally bought a larger one but there is just no room under the tank.

So there is no flow direction shown on this mini filter.   My thinking is the fuel pick up for the pump is at the very back of the tank and so flow is from the tank spigot to the pump, where the pump then pressurises and fills the hp rail ahead of the injectors. Pump overflow is through the pressure regulator back to tank.

The alternative would be that fuel pick up is inside the pump and overflow via the lp tube back to tank, but that doesn't seem right to me.

The filter is conical, so for it to do its job the base of the cone would be facing away from the flow, making the tapered end face into the fuel flow.

My thoughts only, fuel flows rear to front. Filter should have tapered end at rear. Outside catches the crap. Just how i look at it. https://www.amazon.com.au/Kijima-gasoline-filters-diameter-105-226/dp/B004N5ORMA

Seems right to me too, Grog.

However, I just checked the manual, this shows fuel pick up is from inside the tank at the pump, with LP flow through the tea bag and out of the pump to the rear of the tank, so the lp filter has to go in opposite to what I thought...

That filter mostly flows back to front. Everytime you accelerate the fuel in the tank sloshes backwards & blows some back down that pipe to ensure the pump isn't starved of fuel when the tank isn't totally full. When running at a steady speed I'd expect the swirl pot under the pump to be gravity fed by the fuel above it.

I fitted a filter there ages ago after Seth suggested it & putting it caught a lot of dirt/rust flakes when fitted for fuel flowing forwards.

And fitted just after the elbow that the soft line makes. With the tank on, this filter end  rests on the front edge of the airbox, still with play so that it doesn't get trapped.

Thanks Eric, got a 675 today. Im stocked up on bits, have a list, just need to motivate. Brakes to fit, tank off, have a look n service inside, spray under tank with lanox, can get rusty. Clean re oil air filter, clean external fuel filter, add that little low pressure filter.   Maybe even change all vac hoses. Fill her with 98, a bottle of Wynns additive. That will be all needed for a couple of years.

Gave it a bloody good clean!
Turns out the wheels are red not 'brake dust and grease combo' grey.

Today cleaned external ProFlow filter. That is 3rd time cleaned, can now notice diff colour to when new. Will order new insert. Ride home could certainly notice difference. Been a bit doughy, especially blipping for gear down changes. So bloody good again now. Didnt appear that dirty but much better after carb cleaner/air blow. I really think my bike is super sensitive to clean high pressure filter, yours would be same. Today was only 10 th ks since last clean, my thoughts, mine only, must be a lot of 14 with semi blocked stock HP filter, replace original, fit external, reckon will amaze. Makes a great ride. Sorry i bore with external mod, just works.

Yesterday, I started the beast and cracked a coldie that was in the outside fridge that is coasting due to the ambient frigid temperatures, pulled up a deckchair and listened to the engine  purr - whist contemplating my proverbial navel, I noticed a drip under the area of the oil filter - she telling me I need to change her oil! and give her some new make-up! So! my task now is to get that Aspencrate off the lift and flick it to make way for the only one worth paying attention to!!!
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

# Trickle charger on the GSX1400.

A splash of fuel from the mower.

After a bit of encouragement it fired up ran and ticked over.

I got a bit of heat in it, stuck it in gear on the stand and gave the chain a squirt of Motul chain lube.

Might take it out this week.

# Looked at the Gen-1 Busa. 6-plops are sticking. Master cylinder has gone "pop".  Both from being stored and ignored for too long.   Will keep my eyes open for some bits. Stock clip-on style masters on Renthals look odd anyway.

# Pretty sure the B-King needs a new battery.hasn't been run much in the last couple of years.

Finished the caliper rebuild front and rear, came up nice, rear especially so.  New fluid through both, opened the bleed nipple on the rear of the rear caliper and had a coffee, gravity helped me out and then std bleed. Nice firm pedal again.  Front took a bit longer, alternating left and right eventually got all the air out.  Went for a ride, brakes work fine, pretty easy and glad I did it.

Well done Eric. Its nice to know every things free and nice new fluid. I know 6 pots get bad reviews, we dont have salt or freezing temps, makes a big difference. IMO only. Applies to a lot of other probs Northern folks have, corrosion rust etc.
