Today, rain. Checked tyre pressure, already washed last week so just a wipe over with Fully Slick, a great Aussie product. Gave her a start, love that Yoshi sound, Parked her up, ready for action.

Spiritually I have the GSX (I will this time tomorrow)..
But some packages arrived in the post..
The clutch pushrod seal mod thingy (Hyabusa)..
The mega thick 140 Castrol gear oil for my chain, which I am a fan of..
And the pair valve blanking kit as recommended on here (Smart Moto)
3 HiFlo Oil filters (I tend to buy in multiples)

Lastly I ordered the 45mm stainless tubing (perforated and plain) for when I do the silencer mod..
Ive warned my mate who did the welding last time and he said "Brilliant..Just let me know when"
I think I also ordered a set of stainless front brake pins but I can remember if I actually did order or just dreampt I had !

Bloody hell have you completed the complete job including the welding?
Jeez you dont hang about !
It will make a massive difference to me this time around because I will buy a 60mm deep holesaw..
My major problem last time was the holesaw was very shallow!

I didn't replace the baffle just removed it and riveted the end cap back on.

I couldn't find a long hole saw locally so went with the standard on. From start to finish was about 6 hours

I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

Stevel, yeah just a wipe over. Fully Slick or Boss Gloss, very similar. Bowdens products. Work great, wipe with microfibre.

I converted from the standard Yesteryear Halogen to the LED (Legal version thats MOT Friendly)..
It draws only 12 watts compared to the usual 55 watts of the Halogen.

Was it a straight bulb replacement Si? or was there more work involved?

Hi Col

It was a direct bulb replacement..
Took all of 10 minutes..
The cheap Chinese LED's dazzle as their beam isnt focused..
The better LED's emulate exactly the Halogen H4 bulbs..
I got mine from the link below..
Not cheap but excellent quality and no fans whizzing away !

Best wishes mate,

The aftermarket pairs block off plates arrived today plus the new bar risers.

@Speedy1959 don´t the LEDs heat up too much in the back? Since every wire in the GSX is encapsulated in such a tight spot, doesn´t the back of the bulb touch any wire ? Haven´t changed to an LED cause of this; despite around here there´s no legal led. Can see in the UK MOT permits certain LEDs.

I have had an LED bulb for over a year, annoying the fan on all the time but guess that keeps the heat down -no issues and super bright  :)
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Speedy1959

Had these same LED bulbs in Sophie for over a year and also in the Triumph for just under a year with no issues.
The wires cant touch the rear of the LED due to the rubber thingy that covers the bulb.
Not only that but the wires in the rear of my headlight are nowhere near the rear of the bulb..
I think I was the 1st person to remove the headlight on this bike and so the set up was OEM..
The wires are positioned in a circle around the outer part of the reflector and nowhere near the plastic plug that plugs into the bulb..
Incidentally Halogen burns at a VERY high remperature.. Far higher than LED's!

The other side effect is that LED's consume about 40 watts less which in my eyes means "Free" heated grips..
The alternators on older bikes isnt the most powerful in the world!
The Triumph was like a small car alternator and rated at over 700 watts. etc, etc

These compact ones I use are specifically designed for confined spaces and are made from aircraft grade aluminium to disipate "Heat"..
In reality when I have handled them I would describe as "quite warm" and NOT "Boiling hot"

LED's are brighter because most of the energy consumption is Light..
With Halogen, most of the consumption is heat !
