Irish in Oz

Long time since I've been out in the dark, only on dusk on the 14 in Oz.
This week I've been scratching around Irish country roads with no streetlights at 2.00 a.m.
The headlight is much better than I expected and it's only an aftermarket H4 bulb.
At least there are no kangaroo's but I still have to watch out for the odd bunny, badger or fox.

I lived near Wyre Forrest, there was always the fear of hitting one of the deer, no where near as the chances of getting cleaned up by Skippy though.  I don't mind night rides but I do get a bit nervous out where I am now.

Was out on the freeway Thursday night on the 1400, a rarity for me.  I live about 50kms out of town, and the last few km of freeway theres no lighting. No worries though, the stedi led headlight gives such nice light. Then high beam through the suburbs, very nice.  Might need to adjust the beam height a smidge though.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I'm pretty happy with the Stedi as well, only used it a couple of times at night, but it is far better than the halogen up in the hills where I live, noticed from Day 1 that daytime visibility from cars was much improved as well

@grog I was thinking of those. Got a 150% Philips brighter @6000K, but those will be my next road legal ones. But damn, you guys down under pay a lot for your stuff, in my part of the world I´ll pay around 36 aud.

Hey mate,
Does your Stedi led fit straight into the original bucket?
I've converted mine (whole bike) over to led, but the globe I have installed is shithouse😬

I actually installed the 7" iris sealed led lamp unit instead of just a globe. The issue is not the globe, it's the fact that its not suited to the reflector.  The 7" iris needs a bit of fiddling to get it to fit, I did do a write up of that on here a while ago, but works great.  Maybe a dedicated H7 motor cycle led Luke what Stedi now does would be ok in the standard reflector, but I don't know if it will fit inside the lamp housing.

These are best H4 globe ive ever had. Dont know how they compare to Stedi but bloody good, https://myautosupplies.com.au/products/philips-h4-racing-vision-gt200-light-globes-12v-60-55w-200-brighter-halogen

Looks like a good alternative.
I'll bring a suitcase full of them when I return to Oz, should pay for my flight.

GSXKING

Can you but these globes individually or do they always come in two packs ?  :whatever:

Ah ok, thanks.
That's kind of where I'd gotten to, but though you had maybe found a solution.
I do very little night work, but it would be nice to have the option if I ever needed to do more.
Thanks again.

When I first bought my bike it came with twin predator spots which were awful (pic#1). I next tried an aftermarket headlight, but the heat from the globe melted the reflector (chinesium),(pic 2). So I splashed out on a led unit and matching bucket and and hey presto I couldn't be happier, the illumination is much better especially at night and I swear it makes car drivers look twice which can only be a good thing. (pic3).

The Stedi globe/Led fits in the std headlight, BUT the stock springclip doesn't fit, I Magyvered it so that the Stedi holder is fixed and the globe/ led can easily be replaced if and when it needs to be

Hooli

I had to do the same to the clip in my standard headlight to fit a LED lamp. From memory I trimmed the end off & bent it differently.
