I had to do the same to the clip in my standard headlight to fit a LED lamp. From memory I trimmed the end off & bent it differently.

What did you do with the rubber cover ? I stuffed mine trying to get it to fit over a STEDI led bulb ... plus the wire clip will need serious bending .. just don't think it's worth the pain.

Curiosity got the better of me, crossed my fingers and bent the wire enough to be able to lock the collar of the bulb in. Cut the top off the rubber dust cover so it would fit over the base of the LED bulb. No idea how it will look at night but I should stand out more in the day ... it's bright.

From memory I left it off to give the fan on the back of the lamp better airflow.

Mmmm I wonder if I should do that .. I was thinking how hot do they get when bunched up with the rest of the wiring

I think when I put mine on it looked like it blocked half the vents in the fan thing, but wouldn't swear to it.

I'll pull the headlight off again and check, I did cut the cover back a fair bit as I'd stuffed it to begin with, wrapped electrical tape around it to hold it together and in shape. I know it fits ok just not 100% sure how much of the end of the led body sticks through.
