Whirlybirds, not convinced they do a lot but i have them. When you fit make sure at least 2, 4 better, security straps fitted. Thats the reason mine blew off in huge storm March, rain in thru hole. Bastards had only fitted one strap.

A fridge freezer. Nothing flash but there's a limited time I can tolerate fetching bags of ice and trying to keep stuff cool in an esky and having stuff floating around.

Even though I'm often a candidate for Short Cuts and Questionable stuff even I have my limits.

No power to the shed for a little while,  and my extension leads are mostly 30m's. Heaps of rain coming in... two leads plugged together in the middle of the yard? Mmmm.. maybe not.

New heavy duty 50m 10 amp lead hurt my wallet a bit, I grabbed a set of cheap lights and my wallet hurt even more.

Temporary solution but the shed now has lights, a radio and my 18v battery's on charge.  I'll roll the lead up when I'm not using it.

Hmmm, I thought all country folk had generators, got some catching up to do Tony.   Irish probably has one he's not using at the mo.

Lead prob cost $150, running gennie would be 3 days for same cost. Just roughly.

Yeah, about that. I wasn't in a situation to start googling and driving about so grabbed the first heavy duty 50m one I found.

I've always had 8kva generators for work as anything smaller wasn't up to the job but don't have one at the moment.  I was using a mates electric start diesel 8kva when we put the mezzanine in, I'll probably end up with something similar.

Long term goal is to go big on solar and a battery wall with a generator that kicks in automatically when needed.  Power is my only connection to the grid now.

I did buy a cheap one years ago when there was a big power outage in Sydney and surrounding areas, only gets used maybe once a year but they are a handy thing. I am looking at one for the boat, as I was caught one morning with flat batteries but lucky the jetty had power outlets I was able to use.

When my house got wrecked 4 yrs ago, borrowed Honda. No idea of size, it ran lights, tv, fridges/freezers. Sure used a lot of petrol in 4 days. Saved us but.

Just wondering, how do they get rid of them?  Wouldn't want to poison them & have them die in the ceiling.  They'd stink up the place.

Nearly AU$2.47 near me right now.  I pay a bit less if I'm back in the city.

Pretty bad by AU standards but not by UK ones, it'd make it about £1.39p, some of the dearest I've paid here other than out on the islands. Utes happy with 91, Busa isn't.

I would recommend the whirlybirds as from my own experience I did that. I later did some other mods like polystyrene sheets above the mezzanine.

Yeah, I put a whirlybird on the Titan shed at the last place. It worked well.

I'm not a huge fan of windows in my sheds ... but... as the mezzanine is quite high I might put a small one in high up. It'd give more light and let the air through and being so high be less of a security risk. I can easily  put bars across it.

Surely you should be safe and secure out in the sticks?

It's not bad but it happens. I left a generator and other stuff sat here whilst we were building. The house had appliances in it before it was at lock up stage. Never had a drama but I don't want to take things for granted. Rural crime tends to be a bit more specialised, a crew turning up to take ride on mowers, chainsaws, quad bikes etc isn't unknown.
