A little digger
Any news or infos about quick action throttle ? I'm wondering from which motorcycle tu put R1 or R6 , and which years... It takes plug&play - remove oryginal GSX1400 and put R1(R6) tube with robber ?

Kozi, i gave up. Couldnt get real answer for what to buy, seems R1 is slightly slower than R6. Couldnt find locally, lots from USA but freight ridiculous.

1AW022

Lots of talk of this in the past with my old GS500

Motion Pro 01-0094 was the weapon of choice

Never used it
Its still in the bag

Never know... might try experiment on the GSX

Hi guys,

I think I found some tangible data:

First picture below: top left one is genuine R6 throttle tube, top right genuine R1 one, bottom genuine '14.
Looks like the inner diameter of R6 one is smaller? It is not :-)
"wheel" outside diameters: OEM '14: 37mm, R1: 37mm, R6: 41mm
Indeed, the R6 one is a 'short throw' throttle tube, operating angle goes from ~90deg down to ~60deg.

Easy installation, but you need to readjust the two tensioners next to the throttle tube cover

PN/SKU: 2C0-26240-00-00
Yamaha genuine part, should be available at a local dealer. Also available at WeMoto

PS: I've read that the Motion Pro one is no different than the regular R1 one...

Spongey youre correct. 06 on r6 give 60 degree. 99 to 06 give 72 degree. Stock 14 is 90. 👍

First 'real' road test today with the R6 throttle tube, after a few tiny adjustments.

I mean at the local "reference" track road for the insane morons riders around like me: about 20 km of mountain twisties, 40+ corners of nice tarmac, that you race ride back and forth, that is uphill, then downhill. Lot of us there on sunny days.

Fist conclusion after installing the R6 throttle tube, especially if you have used the '14 with the genuine throttle for the past 14 years/ 120K km or so: be sure you have proper brakes and in good condition :-) You face the next corner much sooner than before :-)

Second conclusion: I'm not completely there yet, but yet it's one step closer to the 'craziness' of my MVAgusta Brutale :-)

Good news @SpongeBob  :worshippy:
I have already bought Yamaha throttle but other number - 5SL2624002 (This is all tube with grip but I will remove grip and put it in to my)
Do the cables fits without problem (regulations ofc is neccesary) ?

I may suggest you get the part with exactly the same SKU as I quoted -- 2C0-26240-00-00 -- (it also comes with a grip on it), or you may end up with the regular-sized throttle tube, something like the one I got in the first place, (the top-right one in the picture I posted earlier). And in that case, you won't gain anything.

Anyway the cables do fit in both cases, and if you fit the short-throw tube, you would have to readjust the two tensioners, close to the throttle tube cover. That would be a good indication that you got the right part, by the way.
Also, keep in mind that as there is much less cable guide grooves on the Yamaha throttle tubes, you need to adjust cable tightness "just right" :-)

Sponge, i agree about Brutale. 5 or 6 yrs ago had 1/2 hour one one. Physically a bit small but the rest, wow. Tested gsx1000 same day. Suzuki was so dissappointing. Like comparing a garden gnome to a roller coaster.

Hey Grog,
Agreed, it's slightly small, actually short, so it requires a bit of 'adaptation' if you are resonnably tall and want to ride "track style". But it feels like it weights about half the weight of the '14 :-)
I too had tested one about 10 years ago and was really, really impressed. Then I tested another one about 3 years ago -- the "low-end" one, the 920, all stock -- and was still impressed. At the same period I tested several other bikes such an all new BMW S1000RR, about 175HP, electronic assistance everywhere, up/down quickshifter and all that jazz, and that was... almost boring. Eventually I came across a 2012 "top end" Brutale, the 1090RR, already fitted a with track ECU and exhaust: "only" 150-ish HP, no assistance whatsoever except Traction Control, stiff and uncomfortable as hell :-)  THAT is a bike that you can feel, that is 'alive' and bit wild. A lot of fun to ride.
And this is what I like with the '14, which can be, especially after a few adjustments, a fun bike too with a lot of feedback (sometimes too much :-)  And somewhat more comfortable :-))

I will measure and put the part I bought and also write here my observations :) Thanks for all of info
