I was on an 82 GSX1100 in south africa, just an awesome machine
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Sure were Eric, flogged the hell out of mine, GS1000 also at same time. GSX was far faster, less fuel , both bikes just never failed. Darmah also at same time, equal to Suzis. Wish i had a 3 bike stable now.

I loved my (81 I think) GSX1100 but I just couldn't afford to run it, two fronts, two/three rears and a new Chain and Sprocket set every year was just too much but what a bike.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Hooli

I've been chuckling at a thread on a Triumph owners forum.

They like to fit our six pots because their calipers need rebuilding too often & go wooden

I have posted saying this makes me laugh as lots of Suzuki people hate the six pots for the same reason & that with both rebuilt properly I find feel is very similar between them.

Funny Hooli. 6 pots are all good, just not in your climate, salt etc. Fine here, very basic maintenance needed.

They are fine here if stripped & cleaned once a year, I have to do the same with Hondas etc too. It's our climate & road salt as you say, it just gums up the pistons and/or sliding caliper pins. I cleaned up the Sprint calipers when I put new pads in the other week, they have same issues.

It´s not the bike that´s awesome, it´s bloody South Africa and its wonderful roads ! Should´ve kept my life there and the road would be my bride.

Couldnt agree more, we used to do the brekky run to Hartebeestpoort Dam, awesome winding blacktop.  Did the Stag rally too.  Drove from JHB to Kruger national park and then part of  the Garden route to Cape town before moving to Europe for a bit, then back to Oz.

Hartebeespoort is my favourite place. Used to live 50km from. Anyway..  Europe, where I live is also great. Down under must be wonderful too!

Nice metal. `New z900`, not for me; original Z1, lovely, but I had one back in the day (standard Z1B) which was king of the street and I luvved it, but i fear it would feel dissapointingly `wanting` after some of the more modern big fours i`ve owned since, so undoubtedly I`d choose the CBX. Never had one or ridden one, so why not....! :onya:

I remember when Z1 came out. We all had Honda 4, XS650 Yam, GT750 Suzi. H2 Kawas etc. Far superior power than wed seen. H2 was quick but not as easy to ride. I was apprentice and my Foreman bought first in our state, then my Mate got one, Original Jaffas. We were all in awe.King of the street for sure. My foremans glazed the bores, used oil. Kawasaki supplied rings, a box of valve shims, money to get bores de glazed. No idea but we mustve been one of first in world to pull motor down. Rebuilt was all good. Then we discovered the handling probs, full on tank slappers from both bikes, one of my most scary moments, 140 kph, taking up a whole lane, side to side. We braced one up with instructions from Kawa USA, spent so much time, took it back out, did exact same. Can rem my Mate kicking it. I had one by this time but i never again pushed one fast. Tank slappers still haunt me, just one and bike would be sold. Thankfully no other bike has done that to me.

Never see CBX's ridden here anymore, any never seen any in anything but immaculate condition- they turn up at the bike shows.

A mate had a CBX that I had a ride on many moons ago, I didn't ride it fast as in his words " it ties itself in knots" if you do, but a beautiful thing to ride around on at legal speeds as the motor felt electric, bit with a very nice note
