ouch

i know mines tuned but should it wheelie without aid of clutch ?

seth

Mine does just open the throttle and it will lift the front just think do you want to as it's heavy when it's on just the back wheel .
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

Mine only wheelies over crests if I don't manage to take off. It never wheelies deliberately as I'm a wuss.

When i was younger (alot) i never used to leave a juction or lights unless it was on one wheel, but these days i shit myself everytime it lifts , but the acceleration is a bit addictive and with a heavy hand it'll lift in 2nd , but if i drop the baffle back in it stops that sort of malarkey.

Its also one of the fastest way to be replacing front fork seals, its a heavy bike for wheelies,  but it will do it.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I did a couple on my 70th birthday (just so I could say I did !)
But it was on my K6 gsxr1000  !!!!!!!
traded it in on the 1400 so I wouldn't be tempted again.   :whistling: :rofl2:

I'm of the mind that if it won't do wheelies just just by turning the handle l won't bother. Tend to think they are hard on the bike.
Good fun on the YZ125 back in the early 80's moto-crossing days.
Junked my trail bike when l tipped it over on the road when l was at school.
Put me off just a little
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

T 24

It's easy. 3rd or 4th gear, 100 - 150 kmh, and almost full throtle. It will come up :stir:

grog

I wonder why yours stands up that easy T24? 😂. Rode a mates supercharged 14 years ago, it was similar to yours, stood up at will.

VladTepes

I'm super tempted but dead scared that I'll drive it out from under myself and flip it.
Because I get the impression you have to snap the throttle (when at lower speeds) to get it to come up.
Never real done wheelies before I have to admit.  Well, not on purpose.

Need to know the proper technique.

All I know is - cover back brake, be ready to release throttle, don't panic.

Got a couple of mates ( both mad bastard Kiwi`s come to think of it) who seem to be able to wheelie anything at any time, must be part of the test over there.

I never knew how to wheelie, not even on real wheelie machine I had, TL1000S. Although, my younger brother does stunts for fun on his husaberg fe570, such a wild bike to ride!

GSXKING

Please don't practice on you GSX. It's certainly an advantage to have ridden trail bikes etc. when younger it's just second nature. Road bikes are very different and yes can be flipped with too much throttle.

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

The other option is to clutch it up which I'm told gives more control.

The way I'm often told is - 2nd gear, wind the throttle open, pull the clutch in & let it flick out.

I've not got the bottle to try either.

Never done one (deliberately), never wanted to do one, I have too much mechanical sympathy to treat a bike like that.  Admire those who can do it properly on a bike designed for it.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick
