What I find odd is if the front comes up over a crest I'll wind on to hold it there & ride it but I'll never try to pick it up deliberately.

Obviously that means I was too slow over the crest as the real idea is to get both wheels up for as long as possible.

Before the riot started at the top of the mountain.....Bathurst Easter 81
I saw a guy wheelie a TT500 through or rather over a pup tent.

Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

You were there in 81?  Must have been a heck of a trip!

Not wheelies but opposite. When kids used to bump start my mates sisters scooter, 2 stroke, in reverse. Motor ran backwards. Competition was to see how far you could go backwards. Not an easy task. She mustve wondered about bent mirrors, scratches from dropping it. Only did it on grass.

I'll do them often off road on dirt bikes but never bother on the road I've seen quite a few mishaps over the years.

Was at work one Saturday arvo with my young fella, he was about 4, he's 30 this year. We hear this noise so go and have a look.....a clown doing wheelies up the drive, bloke taking photos and a couple of lookers.
I say please don't do that someone will get hurt......driveway was way too short for a start. Back to work l go. Not long after we hear this grating sound.
Ole mates jammed it under a car at the end of the drive. Luckily he only has a dislocated shoulder. The bikes a bit ripped up and the back of the Ford Laser requires a claim form.
Man they ripped into me, you're a f...ckin doomsayer ya prick......ra..de..ra...de..ra !!
When you been listening to the front tyre chirping.....the driveways too short.

There are two kind of wheelies:
Circus or balance wheelie, angle ~45°, for bikes wihout power and
Power wheelie, keeping front wheel 2 to 4 inch up for a looong time, for bikes with power.
Which one we are talking about?

ouch

i managed to get both wheels of my zrx off the ground, later this year or next i intend to see if the 14 can fly

My RD400 has almost one third of the power the 1400 has and it does better wheelies so I suppose that would be the clown category.

T24 - lifted front wheel maybe a foot or so would be good/ Those 45 degree mega wheelies are definitely a dirt bike job.

I'm of the mind that if it won't do wheelies just just by turning the handle l won't bother. Tend to think they are hard on the bike.
Good fun on the YZ125 back in the early 80's moto-crossing days.
Junked my trail bike when l tipped it over on the road when l was at school.
Put me off just a little

Finished my apprenticeship, a week later l'm in Aussie next day off to Bathurst. Mate said sorry Col there no room in the car l'm going in.  No worries, found a vivid marker pen, wrote "BATHURST" on half a beer carton and put my thumb out.
Guess l was lucky, could have ended up anywhere. Had an amazing time.
