Such a Harley thing to do.

Funny thing on the commute home today.

Waiting at the lights with a few other bikes.  I was in left lane, two other bikes in right lane (Yamaha and a Trumpy).

Knob Jockey on a Harley rolls up and pulls in between the two other blokes - his handlebars nearly touching each.
Basically a space too small to safely go into. Just stares straight ahead like a normal Harley rider, acknowledging nobody.

The road turns right after these lights, but it's a gradual turn (not sharp).

Light goes green, Harley rider nails it.

and about two seconds later nearly loses it - the rear end was sliding back and forth and I was sure he was gonna highside.

He recovered it, but more through good luck than good management. I suspect he'll need a clean pair of Reg Grundies.

I was laughing so hard, the guy on the Yamaha heard me as he rolled up riding along side me.  He said "That was such a Harley thing to do".

Funny as fuck it was !

Hopefully this will take to a street view of said intersection.

Thats one heck of a tight bend for a Harley  At what point did you sling the oil under his back wheel?

VladTepes

Oil?  He didn't need any such help.

His ambition outweighed his talent.... That and Harley's hate leaning right and the curvature of the road would've fucked him too.

Wankers. I love hosing them at the lights

I hate their open pipe noise, at home or on the road. MT Suzuki just as bad. Someone said about pulling up beside with bars poking out at you, other thing i hate. Yeah, they all look straight ahead. Today had Honda Grom next to me at lights, very nice little bike. If i lived in a city id have one.

Harley's are known as potato bikes around here. If you listen to them on tick over it sounds like they are saying  P.O.T.A.T.O , P.O.T.A.T.O, P.O.T.A.T.O.
Harley Davidson....the fastest ( slowest) way to turn good money into noise.

Thats a bit sad to watch. Never like to see anyone fall off. That said, bit of an odd way to do it.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Yeah Col, i actually felt sorry for them after i re watched. Not sure what 2nd bloke was thinking.

I Raced a Harley Today

I raced a Harley today and after some really hard riding I managed to PASS the guy. I
was riding on one of those really, really twisting sections of canyon road with no straight
sections to speak of and where most of the curves have warning signs that say "15 MPH".
I knew if I was going to pass one of those monsters with those big-cubic-inch motors it
would have to be a place like this where handling and rider skill are more important than
horsepower alone.
I saw the guy up ahead as I exited one of the turns and knew I could catch him, but it
wouldn't be easy. I concentrated on my braking and cornering. Three corners later, I was
on his fender. Catching him was one thing; passing him would prove to be another. Two
corners later, I pulled up next to him as we sailed down the mountain.
I think he was shocked to see me next to him, as I nearly got by him before he could
recover. Next corner, same thing. I'd manage to pull up next to him as we started to enter
the corners but when we came out he'd get on the throttle and out power me. His
horsepower was almost too much to overcome but this only made me more determined
than ever. My only hope was to out-brake him.
I held off squeezing the lever until the last instant. I kept my nerve while he lost his. In an
instant I was by him. Corner after corner, I could hear the roar of his engine as he
struggled to keep up. Three more miles to go before the road straightens out and he
would pass me for good. But now I was in the lead and he would no longer hold me back.
I stretched out my lead and by the time we reached the bottom of the canyon, he was
more than a full corner behind. I could no longer see him in my rear-view mirror. Once
the road did straighten out, it seemed like it took miles before he passed me, but it was
probably just a few hundred yards. I was no match for that kind of horsepower, but it was
done. In the tightest section of road, where bravery and skill count for more than
horsepower and deep pockets, I had passed him.
Though it was not easy, I had won the race to the bottom of the canyon and I had
preserved the proud tradition of one of the best bits from Britain.
I will always remember that moment. I don't think I've ever pedaled so hard in my life.

And some of the credit must go to Raleigh cycles, as well.
They really make a great bicycle...

I just remembered a Harley story. My mate Dave from up North Qld. Road to his place up the mountain is over 100 corners in 10ks. He was on Diavel. Harley in front of him ruining the day. He decided to pass it on the inside, job done. Its a road you need to tackle every ride. The next week he was off for doctor visit. Doc said, nice under pass on me last week Dave.

They hate being passed by a bike on a mountain road but  from a few experiences I've had , let me tell you they REALLY hate being passed by a car

OK the video was funny to watch - it all seemed to happen in slow motion. Gotto ask, do Harleys have no brakes??

Sad to see any rider/s bite the dust but to go over the edge like Lemmings is beyond words..... :embarassed:

Thankfully no one appeared too hurt, which is all that matters. :onya:

The 2nd Harley rider is looking at his mate over the edge, play it frame by frame, as he passes his mate (who's already come off) he keeps looking, first beside then just backwards & because he's looking there his head, shoulders and arms end up pointing that way, sending his bike over the edge too.

The 2nd rider is actually passed the accident & is on a good position in the road, but he keeps looking & steers over the edge.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Target fixation, day one of superbike school, look where you want to go because you go where you look
