There's a drink promotion going on here at the moment.
If your drink tastes funny, you win a grand.
Well, My drink tasted funny and I won a grand.

The Express is booked in for monday morning to get the front forks serviced and upgraded springs fitted. 0.7 to. 1.2.
And then with whatever is left, I'll look at getting the seat rebuilt.

I had a phrase when I worked, (seems an age since I retired)

Consistency is a habit.

Well, I am a man of my word. Had my first run out on the 14 a couple of weeks ago, normally call in to the local fuel station to fill up on the way home. It was closed and I was on flashing pump logo, no problem thinks me, next run out, fill up on the way. ( It's 15 Kms north of my house.)

Last week, my friend and his family came for a long weekend from Wales to ski (2hrs to the slopes) we got back to ours after 3 days, sun cracking the flags, all sunbathing in the garden before hitting the hot tub
Next morning, (they are flying home PM) my Friend says the boys (teenagers) have never been on a motorcycle, but would like to see what it's like.

Spare lid out the cupboard, first boy (13) on the back, it's 6km south to the motorway, so quick thrash to the motorway roundabout and back, second boy (17, just passed his car test) back up to the motorway and back, get back, turns out my friend has never been on a bike! (Owns a 911) so set off with him clinging on, then engine died, fired up, died then stopped.

OUT OF FUEL

AGAIN

BUT NOT IN GARAGE.

Luckily, it was downhill home, got it going, tick over revs, limped home.

Lesson probably not learned, practice is habit forming....
If you are going to run out of fuel, do it in your garage.

It's only a short walk to the kettle.

In a long time, today I actually did something to my 14:
New oil, filter, cooler  :boogie2:

Notty

First ride this year - went carefully as new braided lines, callipers refurbished by Del . Went with my 18 year old nephew he has a 50cc lexmoto scooter twist and go OMG it was sooooo slow a max of 40 downhill but only 30 on a 50 speed limit with a huge queue of cars behind us - no fun at all. Brakes were fine, no leaks and stops ok  :) must try and get him on a bigger bike
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Red Biker

I'd been looking at some new gear on line so when I got up and saw the weather I headed over to Sportsbike Shop which is quite a nice ride across Lincolnsire, about 40 miles from me.

Tried loads of different trousers on but left with nothing  :whatever:

Not sure if everyone else's bike does the same but when I left after being there around an hour, I didn't leave it as long to warm up as normal and consequently when I exited the car park in front of 100 bikers, it stalled between 2nd and 3rd which resulted in a back wheel wobble before releasing the clutch to bump start!

Hopefully everyone thought I was showing off my stunt skills but was squeaky bum time for me  :cry2:

I never warm my bike up before riding, it shouldn't need it and it shouldn't stall.

Idle speed too low?

Red Biker

Hi Hooli,
Nah ticks over nicely just needs 3-4 mins, so jacket ,helmut and gloves. Not just gloves as it was this morning!

Was thinking today how well it ran, was spot on, gave it full beans all the way  :imrgreen:

Maybe it needs the throttles balancing & both TPS resetting then. The ECU uses both TPS to control the fast idle when cold & you need to balance the throttles first before setting them.

As mine didn't need it's usual weekly wash and clean I did a few jobs I've been meaning to do for a while...I've actually been working on it outside in shorts and no t shirt...Lovely hot sun here today :boogie:

Oil leak sorted. It was the reed valve rubber seal on the PAIR blanking kit right hand side weeping slightly. Been bugging me for a while. I hate oil leaks however small
Checked and cleaned spark plugs.
Balanced throttle bodies...Small adjustment needed between No.1 and No.2.
Checked TPS calibration...Tiny bit out from when I last did it 26,000 miles a go!
Got some Hammerite on the rusty patches on the underside of the fuel tank.
Fixed intermittently working "Hazard" lights...Cleaned contacts on plug in headlamp shell..Sorted!
Polished bodywork and job done.

The good thing was that I actually enjoyed doing it. I think with riding the GSX for commuting all the time it became a bit of a necessary weekly chore throughout the winter months and I lost interest to a certain extent. Now that the sun is back it's got me motivated again.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

T250

Fitted new exhaust cans and link pipes, Black stainless oval cans  :onya: I think it looks and sounds good  :)

froudy

New front rubber fitted along with brake caliper major post winter clean up.
I was sat watching TV last night and suddenly this thought popped into my head for no apparent reason...Did I re tighten the two lower fork leg clamp bolts?
Just been out and checked and NO I hadn't tightened them
