Ice, that pic of your clocks & bars, you've got the brake & clutch mounts tipped way forward?  be better to have the fluid reservoirs etc on the level wouldn't it?  I can imagine what would happen if you took the lid off with them on an angle like that.

I appear to have replaced my sensible Saab with something older, thirstier, slower, harder to park, more expensive and smaller inside. It does have a 4.0 V8 though

Have you been drinking and bidding at the same time Hooli  :stir:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Slower & smaller inside?  I always thought those 4L V8's went quite good.  XJ8 is it?  Like that model, not so much the newer ones.  What Saab did ya have?

I've still got the Saab, it's a 9-5 2.3t Vector auto, it's up for sale after a MOT this week. I'm sure the Saab feels quicker 50-90 but as the Jag doesn't feel quite right things might improve there. I'll be cleaning the throttle body for starters.  It might just be going back to a non-turbo of course, NA engines don't often feel as responsive.

It's a V8 4.0 with all the toys & almost all of them still work. Just the heated driver's seat & aircon to sort really. No rush on the aircon but I'll get it nitrogen sniffed so I know what to replace over the winter.

Bielie45

I bought a 3/8 and 1/2 inch cordless Milwakee ratchets and 6 batterys, mix of baterry sizes.

Nice tools Bielie. Keen on a 3/8 drive myself.

MarkN

Mounting kit for Givi top box rack and pannier brackets - out with the tool box now :boogie:

Kiwifruit

Well done finding a set Mark.
The 14 is a great packhorse, I've done lots of trips two up with luggage. Plenty of room and those racks just make life easy.
Happy travels  :onya:

I'd make sure the brazing (yes it really isn't welding) where the rack fits to the grab rail is waterproof with some silicon or similar before you fit them. I've had one rot out & snap there as water got in & rotted it before the paint fell off.

Also clean & grease the join in the pannier racks under the mudguard well, it's an utter twat to get apart if you need to remove them otherwise.

Oh finally, check the catch on the topbox, they fit with slam lock like a house door. When they get old the tip of the sliding section in the bottom of the box breaks off & then the topbox randomly falls off as you ride (guess how I discovered this?). Oh & put some sticky rubber or similar on the rack to stop the topbox rattling about, otherwise it makes the bars shake slightly which makes your hands ache & you can't let go with both hands.

Hooli I am a big Jag fan so I fully approve of your ludicrous decision. I'd get an XKR if I could afford to, or a Mk2.
