Good Luck with that Hooli.

Tony Nitrous

2 x 20kg of mortar mix and some Bondcrete plasticiser.

Got 70 or 80 concrete blocks that need the recessed lifting lugs rendered up.

Edit:  A quick look in Bunnnings had some nice little plastic bags, all sealed up and clean,
.... $10 for 10kg.

I guessed there'd be bigger bags outside. Paper bags, on a pallet, put you in a cloud of dust when you load them,
.... $11 for 20kg.

I should have looked how much the PVA wood glue was instead of Bondcrete but I was more interested in a Bunnings Chicken Curry pie by then.

Great car...diesel engine usually reliable if serviced properly. I know that applies to most engines, but for some Alfas it doesn't.
There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.

Quote from: Hooli on Wednesday, 29 July  2026, 05:58 AMWell let me start with a little sad story...

I took my XJR in for a garage to look at the chassis rail welding needed this year, after nearly two months of trying to find a place that'd even look. It turns out that all the welding I'd had done over the last several years was crap & coming apart, rotting etc etc. No way was I paying for everything to be done again so it needed to go. It's been sold as 'spares or repair' & the guy is collecting it Sunday.

I'd been looking around for a cheap sensible diesel estate car to replace it, as that'd be so much more practical for me. Well yeah, urrm I got distracted with something that came up when looking for estates. Enter a cheap Alfa 159 Sportwagon, but it is a diesel & it is an estate! It's come home tonight but won't be used till Saturday when I tax it.

Guess I'll find out just how bad Italian can be without needing to buy a Ducati after all.
Nice, my mum and dad had the 156 sedan. Awesome car, decently finished. Theirs was the petrol with the triptronic sequential gearbox, very nice once you get the revs up.  Not sure about their diesels, but im sure with a decent service history (and an Italian tune up) it will be great.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Hooli

It's got a full history, recent cambelt etc etc. so hopefully it'll be a good'un for me.
Bit of damage on the front bumper, I'm going to have a go at taking it off and straightening the mounts so it sits right but that's all it needs except cleaning properly.

Bought some Five WFX2 EVO GTX Goretex winter gloves. Did 80km to dad's in the rain last evening....dry paws !! Came home in the cold late this arvo...warm paws.
Well happy  :boogie2:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Hooli

Why do you need five gloves?  ???

grog

I use Five Evo summer gloves, excellent, so guessing their Winter range same quality.

Coz a finger got cold and wet with Four

GSXKING

Five as in five fingers only make gloves.
There's a consistency with sizing throughout their range. Once you find your fit it's the same for every pair.
I wear summer gloves probably 10 months of the year here.
However today I wore winter gloves and had heated grips on level 2 of 5 over Mt. Glorious.
Bobbie uses Macna ladies fit heated gloves, we just upgraded to 12v batteries and they stay warmer for longer now 🖐🔥.

What kind of temperature were you travelling in Col ?

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

Eric GSX1400K3

I've got both summer amd winter gloves from Five.  Can't fault the winter gloves, nice long gauntlet and an inner neoprene like gauntlet with a decent sized pull tab so you can pull them on with a glove on the other hand.  Summer gloves are well made and have good knuckle protectors.
