Looks like a great place. York is full of history.

I love York for exactly that reason.

The beer was called Odin's Revenge or something. I wasn't over keen if I'm honest but there were loads of other choices I did like as I worked my way along the pumps.

She's been riding 16 years, but a controlling ex never let her take her test. She's always doing daft rides on her little bike, I think she's done 9k in the last year since becoming single. She'll never be home once she gets a big bike haha.

Looked like an awesome weekend was had.

For us here in Oz, an L plate means you need to be riding with a fully licensed rider and on a LAMS - (I know that may mean something else to our Kiwi cousins...)

Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme- usually  a restricted 650 or 800cc bike. Meant to support new bike sales and prevent the market being flooded with imported 250cc"s like it was when i did mine many years ago.

Concept is once you have your full licence, you keep the bike and the restricted plates and/or ecu is unlocked, giving you full power.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

LAMS here means it's restricted to what HP the machine puts out. Yes there's some 600 - 650cc machines that are Lams approved, could be 800cc too. TBH it's not something I take too much notice off as it sure don't apply to me.  Think the HP restriction is like 47hp or something. Nope, just googled it, most popular and most powerful LAMS approved bike in NZ is the Yamaha MT07 at 52hp.

Here you do a CBT, Compulsory Basic Training, which takes a day & you're allowed to ride a 125cc on your own for two years at which point you need to have done the full tests or redo the CBT. There's some sort of restriction on how many times you can redo it now but I don't know the details.

Oh yeah to expand on that.

When you're doing the big bike training you ride on L-plates too & have to be with an approved instructor when on the road,

My tyre.... D606,
Chain lube,
Gave everything a check over.

I thought about a longer lasting more road based tyre, then remembered where I got bogged and almost stranded recently and decided I'll suffer chewing them up on the bitumen and sharp gravel.

Even though it's a tame little bike with no fairing I prefer it in the cold weather. I ride slower, in more sheltered areas out of the wind, you work a bit harder, and I'm happy to rug up with extra layers and winter gloves that I don't find comfortable on the Busa's.

606 will last you a while. Best I've had is 4500km on a trip to Cape York on my old DRZ. Couldn't match that on the 701 however  :wheelie:

The stock tyre lasted me 2,800K's. I did do a bit more bitumen than I planned, but it was mostly gravel roads.  I'm torn between getting more road based tyres that'd be fine most of the time, and knowing the few times I hit deep mud and dirt I'll be in trouble.

If I get anywhere even near your 4,500K's or noticeably more than stock I'll be happy and stick to this style.

Putting more road based tyres sorts of defeats why the bike was for.

The 1402 looking on in jealousy in the background. Her turn next month for new boots.

What's the cost for that set in Perth ?
I just paid $400 for a rear in Brisbane.

650 for the pair, fitted (rims only) and balanced.

I think the rear retails for 329-359 on its own, excluding F&B. Obviously more if they have to remove and refit to the bike.

I paid $669.90 for a pair of S23's recently.

On the invoice they didn't bill me for fitting and balancing, but the bike was in getting a full service so I'm sure they did OK, they aren't the cheapest on tyres or servicing!

I did have a really good tyre guy in Brisbane but sadly I'm a bit far away to use him all the time and he's now decided he only wants to fit to lose wheels not bikes.

That reminds me I need to price up tyres for the Bloo Thing. I realised how bad the front had got last weekend, there's life in the rear but it'll get a pair.
