Hooli said something about them doesn't fit exactly and they need to be modified.  He got a set as well.

For $60au the quality seems pretty good.
one of the things ive wanted to do for a while is the white dial with blue light upgrade, I recon that looks so good.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

give it the Italian tune-up Grog.  Did it to mine last Friday.  Get up to triple digit speed and grab a handful of front brake with clutch in, repeat 8-10 times.  I couldn't touch the calipers after the last stop, but no more sticky pistons.

PS I like the crash bobbins on the bottom of the fork leg

Exactly my plan, bit of a workout, that's necessary to let the vht paint cure also. Bobbins, kmart skateboard, threaded stainless rod, nyloc nuts and assorted washers.Maybe 20 bucks all up. From memory R&G was around 200.Prob on Ali express these days cheap.

Good luck. The inner piece is wrong on those. The switches for the buttons don't fit, or at least didn't on my Bloo Thing.

Quote from: GSXKING on Friday, 03 July  2026, 09:29 AMMost HD tyres are for looks not performance, because they don't want a warranty claim on tyres being worn out, solution, make them out of black concrete especially the HD specific Dunlops.
I owned three HDs, a Softail, Heritage and RoadKing over a ten year period and was only comfortable on the RoadKing once I switched to Avon Cobras.

It's Cobras I've worn out on it and they last about twice as long as the factory tyres did. As you say the OE tyres are awful.
When the fronts eventually go, they go the same as my other bikes. Bald on the sides from cornering rather than the middle.

Crap, I wasn't going to worry about the inner bit, was hoping the switches work as my originals don't..

If you're just using the front & back covers you might be ok. That's what I've done, my switches don't work but I'm not sure why as I'd got bored rebuilding the clocks by then & just refitted them.

I just reconnect the battery at one o'clock to set the clock.

My clocks have needed to be set that way for years. At the moment they're 3 mins behind.

Just a thought on the buttons not working, it won't be the buttons themselves I doubt, it'll be what they're pressing on, the little switch on the circuit board, they get worn out / dirty or just busted.
You could try some contact cleaner on them and the area then press them with the covers off and power on to see if they still work, if so, then it's just a matter of aligning the external button with those switches. If it need a real hard press to activate the internal switch, how about 'extending' the inside part of the external switch with a blob of RTV or similar, let it cure as a raised blob then you wouldn't have to press so hard.

Good idea Col, mine are OK but just, you need press thr button in a certain way, and I suspect that as you say, the PCB has some build up or oxidation on it after 20 odd years.  Been meaning to take it apart to check. Microswitches still work, still cycles through the two trip meters abd odometer, and setting the clock still works, so all good there.

Went to see my Dad in Cambridge today. Fueled up for the run home, checked the top box lid was locked and the top box moved.... soon spotted one of the arms had cracked, lucky I didn't lose the whole lot as one had completely broken and the other was only just hanging on when I got home.

One side had broken before, so more welding and a bit of reinforcement required. Pretty good really they've always been on the bike and usually with plenty in.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎
